Chapter 31: ERRATIC FEAR

The drive to Murphy's Restaurant was the longest fifteen minutes of my life. Every red light I encountered, made me want to scream and each car in front of me gave the urge to ram through it and keep moving.
My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles had gone white, and I could feel my heart beating against my ribs with a rhythm that were matching the sirens I could hear as I was getting closer to the restaurant.
Lake's voice through the phone had been filled with terror, that no five year old should ever imagine. The sound of gunshots in the background, the screaming, the chaos , it all replayed back in my head like it was on repeat.
