Chapter 28 Elena’s POV I changed quickly into simple dark clothes and met Damien in the entryway. He was already waiting, keys in hand, the same tired tension still set in his shoulders. He did not speak as he opened the front door. The night air felt cooler than before, brushing against my face as we stepped outside. We walked to the car in silence. He opened the passenger door for me without looking at me, then went around to the driver’s side and got in. The drive to the hospital was quiet.
