LUCAS and I did not talk about the engagement party again after he first mentioned it. We did what we always do whenever we had disagreements. We don’t speak to each other for a day and then resume talking again as if nothing happened.
I couldn’t help but imagine Mrs. Santiago’s reaction when she saw me at her son’s engagement party. I wonder what she thinks happened to me. I’m sure she’d be surprised to know that I am married and that I am living a happy and prosperous life. We may not be as rich as their family, but we have more than enough to live by.
