Chapter Eight

1433 Words
Diana's POV For the next few days, the castle has been active and filled with so many people that I stopped trying to remember their names. I was fitted for the wedding dress for the ceremony that Skye and I are meant to have tomorrow and as much as I tried to help out with the colors and the planning, I knew next to nothing about planning an actual wedding, let alone my own. So I let his mother do everything, especially since the last time I tried to give her some ideas she shot me down and ordered the complete opposite of what I actually wanted. I asked for a soft purple color as a personal request for my wolf. Instead she went with a deep red instead. Which honestly wasn't ugly at all, but she said that red matched who I was. A stain on her son. I actually found that comment insulting. Red at a wedding from what I heard is for the women who have slept with the groom, so I think she's making it point that my own mate has had more than one person that will be attending our wedding. Also from what I could tell, the bridesmaids are all infatuated with Skye. Almost as if they know him more than just their crowned prince. I kept telling myself it didn't bother me. But deep down it infuriated me thinking that each and every one of them were chosen because they have been in his bed. I'm positive it's the bond or my wolf making me feel this way. So I try to ignore it all and place a fake smile on when I'm around them. As for Skye, his parents have kept him away from me since his mother caught us in the closet together. Truthfully, I sense they don't like me because I'm not one of them. I'm just a werewolf/faye hybrid who isn't good enough for their purebred Lycan son. And on top of that, I've got nobody to speak to about any of it. Not my parents nor my siblings. They are all too busy to even answer my calls or return a simple text message. I feel so lonely here when I'm supposed to be happy about being married tomorrow. I wasn't though. I was becoming physically sick because I'm so lonely and depressed. I've never felt more alone in my entire life than I do here. A loud knock caused me to jump, I dropped the book I was trying to read due to the shock. I picked up the book and placed it on the table beside me then got up. Once I reached the door that was being assaulted I unlocked the handle and yanked it open. I wanted to yell at the person but the menacing look in Skye's brown eyes caused me to take a step backwards. "Skye, what's wrong?" He grumbled an apology as he stormed in through the door, slamming it behind him. The door frame rattled with how hard he slammed it shut and I jumped yet again. I've never seen him this agitated before. "I can't believe her. She's lost her mind if she thinks I'm going to agree to this." He began to ramble angrily causing to scrunch my eyebrows together. "Skye?" I called his name once more, only he didn't seem to hear me. I slowly began moving closer, hoping he would t snap at me if he didn't sense me getting closer. I've read about the anger Lycans have, only I yet to see how bad it could get. Skye has always been kind and gentle with me, so seeing him like this was worrying. Once I was close enough to touch him I lifted my hand up and went to touch his shoulder to get his attention but he suddenly turned towards me with wild eyes. I inhaled a breath seeing how dark his eyes were. They were almost onyx. "We're leaving!" He declared and grabbed my wrist CC causing me to wince at the grip. "What happened? Can I help?" I asked him m softly "Unfortunately not, but I can fix it if you agree to come with me." "Where?" "To the city. I have a friend." "I don't understand, what happened? Why are you upset?" I I lifted the hand that he wasn't holding onto with a death grip and placed it on his face, cradling his right cheek in my palm. He tensed to a half a second then slowly leaned j to it. Skye closed his eyes and I smiled tentatively at how quickly he began to calm down. Well that and the feeling of those magical sparks that flowed through my palm where I was holding his cheek. Skye took a deep breath and when he opened his eyes again, his beautiful chocolate brown eyes were staring back into my baby blues. "Better?" I asked tenderly. "No, but it's helping to calm my heart rate." He replied. "Can you tell me what happened?" Skye sighed and lifted his head, he released my wrist that he held and I instinctively grasped it and rubbed the sore area. "It's my mum." He answered finally. xI didn't know the had them in the wedding party." My brows pulled together in confusion. "Who are we talking about?" "Hailey, Glenda, and Louise!" My three bridesmaids that his mother picked out. "What about them?" I was afraid to know that answer, but with the looks they give me when we're around once another tells me my instincts were right about them. I just pray I am wrong. "Louise is my ex-girlfriend. And Glenda and Hailey were ones that my parents tried to get me to accept as a chosen mate. Before I met you of course." My heart stuttered after hearing those words. I sighed and looked down at my hands. "I get the feeling that your mother doesn't exactly like me." "Oh, darling." Skye pinched my chin and made me look up at him. "I do not care if she doesn't like you. You are my mate, and I love you. I don't care that you aren't a Lycan, I love who you are And I know that it's taking you longer to accept this bond but I can see that you or your wolf wants this the longer we are together." He smiles softly. He hasn't told me those three words in what feels like weeks. "Is that why you're angry? Because of those mediocre girls that are my bridesmaids in our wedding? They can't do anything about it. As you just said, I'm your mate. They cannot stop what fate has brought us." "Then let's elope!" My eyes widened. "I'm sorry?" "I have a priest in town an hour away, come with me and let's get married with no one around to sneer or judge." "But the wedding is tomorrow morning." "Exactly!" A low growl slipped past his lips and I rubbed my hands down my arms at the sound while goosebumps littered my skin. "Let's show them that you and I belong together. Once you have my last name, Diana, my parents can't do anything to change it. Plus, I don't want them to see me leave my mark on you." I stared at him bewildered at his outburst of a solution. It only took me thirty seconds to understand why he was suggesting this. He wanted to prove a point to his parents, especially his mother. However, I didn't care what she thought of me or why she didn't like me but I wasn't a child and wasn't in the mood to prove a point to her or anyone in this bridal party. "No!" I shook my head slowly. Skye's brows furrowed, a hint of hurt and anger flashing across his face. I sighed softly and met his gaze. "I'm sorry but, no." "But—” "Let me finish!" I reach out for his curled hand and he jerks it back. Like if I touched him he would be instantly burned. Which honestly? Is a reasonable response. Who knows if the three gifts I already have are the only ones I'll be stuck with. There's a chance I could get them all, like Mom, who got all six. I'm just as extraordinary as she is when it comes to being a Faye. Not even my younger brothers have more than one gift blessed to them by being part Faye. "My heart jumped at his sudden action, but masked the hurt I suddenly felt because of it.
