Diana's POV
My face flushed red as I looked up at the Lycan Queen. Her cheeks were red as well but probably not flushed the way mine were. She took in the scene she busted in on, and raised an eyebrow at her son. "I, umm..." She stuttered before clearing her throat. "Skye your father is looking for you!'
"What about?" Skye asked his mother. His beautiful English accent flowed through my ears as he asked softly. I loved and hated how close his body was. I wanted to turn around, ignore his mother standing before us and just climb up his body and take his mouth with mine. But I fought that urge our mate bond sent through me.
"You were told to stay with Sophia. When we arrived back home, we were told that no one was there with her?" she narrowed her eyes down at me. "Is she the reason why you're shirking on your duties?"
Well, there goes me wanting to play hookie with my mate today.
"Mother, was it not you that told me to get to know Diana before the wedding? I'm doing just that, and Sophia is fine. We stayed with her for over an hour before we went and ate a little lunch. We even brought Nate with us to eat. Mom, I promise I have everything handled." He spoke calmly and smoothly. His voice was just making me want to swoon all over him and his scent. The longer we stayed in this small closet the more his scent enveloped me, it made my knees feel weak.
Skye wrapped an arm around my front and held me closer to him. I no longer felt as if I was about to fall. "I wanted to take her to the town. Show her around, I mean she's my mate and our Princess. Our people should meet her, shouldn't they?" He asked his mother. Her composure softened a little bit, not enough to where outsiders would notice it. But I knew it wasn't for me, she was giving in to her son but softening her features.
"Of course. " The Queen ran a hand over her bangs that hung loosely as they seemed to cover her eyes for a moment. "Yes, of course. But there was a rogue vampire that slipped onto our territory. We aren't sure if there's more than one, but so far it's just him.x She sighed deeply. "Perhaps tomorrow will be a better day for an outing? Your teacher and I will join you!"
"How lovely," Skye murmured. He and his mother said a few more words before she disappeared.
Skye leaned down, his hot breath fanned against my face as he asked in a husky voice. "As much as I'd like to finish what you started. I think our first kiss would be on our wedding day, don't you think, Princess?" That damn endearment makes my heart quicken every time unbearable him calls me that. It's not like I've not been called that my entire life, but hearing it comes from my mates lips...oh boy, does that make my stomach flutter.
I will say this. Being around Skye makes it easy to finally get over my relationship with Marco. I don't even care who broke up with who anymore, but I know he has a mate out there somewhere. Whenever that may be, I know he'll be happy once he finds her or him. I only want the best for him, always had.
"Come on, let's go!"
"Where?" I asked, a little breathless.
"My tower!" He smiled and kissed my cheek before he released me and allowed me to step out of the closet. He followed after me and I took in a lung full of air that wasn't his.
My heart rate slowed, and my brain calmed down from the excitement.
"Diana?" Skye called out. I looked up and saw him about ten feet down the hall to my left. Skye was smiling as he held his hand out. His beautiful brown eyes were so full of hope and lust that I couldn't fight the urge to walk towards him and took the hand he offered.
He smiled brightly as he looked down at our intertwined hands and then back up at me. "Come along love." he murmured while bringing me closer to him, then turned around and began walking. Skye brought my hand up to his mouth and kissed it softly.
My heart swooned, and my stomach did a little flip. This bond is working faster than I thought it would.
He pulled me to his side and we began walking. Every couple of minutes, he would absentmindedly rub his thumb over the top of my hand. My heart would beat a little faster each time those sparks would spread from that spot and up my arm and into my very soul. The constant sensation made me shudder with anticipation for the future I would have with him by my side.
It made me smile to myself. I see why he refused my rejection. This is what he wanted, and not only that, he wanted me to feel it too. It has just taken me a little longer to wrap my head around the idea of being with him and his mate and not just a means to an end for his parents and my grandparents' sake.
Skye looked down at me, when he realized I was staring up at him, he smiled and lifted our hands again and kissed the back of mine softly.
"We're stopping by your room first," he said.
"Whatever for?" I knitted my brows together in question.
"We are going to go for a dip in the lake," he murmured.
"I can't," I stopped and pulled my hand away from his. Skye stopped too and faced me, a frown on his handsome face.
"Why?" he asked me.
"I-I..." I stammered and looked away from his intense gaze and down at my hands. "I can't swim." I whispered. This was so embarrassing to admit.
"You can't swim?" he repeated. I nodded timidly, my cheeks flaming with embarrassment. "Diana? Look at me please?"
I took in a deep breath to steady my racing heart before looking up at his dark eyes. "I don't care that you can't swim," he smiled and stepped up closer to me. Skye lifted his hand up and brushed a few strands of hair out of my face before brushing his fingers across my inflamed cheek.
"We can just sit by the edge and enjoy the water at knee-length! But if you don't want to, we can just hang in one of our rooms if you want instead?" He smiled while raising an eyebrow as he waited for my response. All I could do was nod my head. I didn't trust my voice to answer. His touch was warm and tender, and it suddenly made me nervous.
Is that a yes to the lake or...?"
Ye-yes, I'd actually enjoy going to the lake with you!" I stammered. I bit my lip and looked back down at my hands.
"You're cute when you are nervous!" Skye chuckled.
I looked back up at him with a playful glare that only made him laugh just a little bit harder. He took my hand in his once again and intertwined our fingers. "I'll take you to your room first. Do you have a swimsuit?"
"No! I didn't think I'd need one since I can't swim, and well. England isn't exactly a place I thought was hot enough to go for a swim."
"We have weeks at a time when it isn't. But when it's warm outside like it is today. One can't resist!" I giggled at his sudden excitement and let him pull me with him as we walked back to my room. I wasn't in a tower of my own like Skye and his parents. I'm sure that would change once we are married in the next few days, and I wasn't sure if I was excited or nervous about that.
