WREN'S POV
“Grab her!” The first boy yelled, his eyes widening in pure excitement. The other dashed forward, his arm stretched out to grab me. Seeing this, I moved to the side, but because I was anxious, I unintentionally applied speed, which made me appear blurry as I moved to the side. The boy lost his balance and crashed onto the floor. The orange cat I was trying to feed hissed and ran away.
“No!” I held out my hand. “Come back! Ugh!” I stomped my feet, turning to the three idiots who wouldn’t take a loss and f**k off.
“How did you fall like a loser, Brian? Stand the f**k up and grab the girl!” The loudest one yelled. I picked my pinky finger in my ear, staring at them as my anger slowly built up, but suddenly Elsie whispered.
‘They aren't worth you revealing you're a werewolf, Wren. Just leave,’ she said worriedly, but I was too angry to give a damn about them finding out I was a werewolf.
In fact!
‘There’s no camera around or people around. I can beat the s**t out of them and make sure they forget ever crossing paths with me.’ I rubbed my hands together, cracked my fingers, and twisted my neck, too.
The boy stood up from the floor, looking at his hands with bruises on them, his face slowly twisting with anger.
‘No, don’t do that! Let’s go right now!’ she whispered fiercely, and I could imagine her standing up.
“Too late,” I said, ducking down from the punch the boy threw at me. Clenching my hand tightly into a fist, I punched forward with half my strength and hit his stomach, my hand going inside his stomach. I was sure I had rearranged his organs.
“Ahhjkh!” His strangled, shocked cough entered my ear, and I removed my hand and punched his stomach again, this time sending him flying. He blasted backward and hit the ground, rolling multiple times before slamming against the wall and going limp.
“Is he dead? You, check if your buddy is dead.” I nudged at them to check on him, but the two fools were too stunned to even close their mouths. “Hello? Oh?!”
I snapped my fingers before they recollected themselves, and the second one rushed to check on him.
“Brian, wake up!” He shook him fiercely, but he barely moved. He placed his hand under his nose for a few seconds before standing straight. “He’s knocked out. What did you do? How did you do that?”
“You’re not in the place to ask me questions.” I crossed my arms. “I should be the one asking you whether you’re still interested in the money or leaving. And this time around, I will make sure your guts spill out. You have two seconds to decide.”
They glanced at each other, and I already knew their answer. Without wasting time, I dashed forward, grabbed the second one by his head and the first one by his mouth, and slammed their heads together.
“Ahhhhh!” Their screams pierced through the alley, and I made sure I beat the crap out of them.
I walked out of the alley satisfied, taking out my phone with the picture of them beaten up inside it. A smirk spread across my face as I stared behind me at them lying on the floor.
“Just in case they remember my face and plan to play tricky games with me.”
I shut my phone, slipped it inside my pocket, and rushed to pick up Maren. Hopefully, she hadn’t been waiting for too long. I looked down and noticed the faint blood on me before quickly cleaning it.
Getting to the place almost immediately, I saw Maren walking out with a proud smile on her face, and I smiled too, glad there was something that would keep her mouth running at least, and she wouldn’t notice how tense I was.
“Look who it is… I didn't expect you would come quickly to take me home,” she said, closing the car door behind her. I rolled my eyes, staring outside the window. “You know, I saw some elder sisters today and kept wondering how you’re my older sister. You’re no fun at all!”
My jaw locked instantly, irritation crawling through me, but instead of bantering with a child, I simply inhaled and exhaled softly.
“Let’s go home.” I smiled, and the car began moving. However, that didn’t stop Maren from talking about what happened today and what she didn’t like about today.
Ughhhhh!
“Don’t you dare disturb me!” I yelled at her and slammed my bedroom door after that. I sank onto the bed, staring at my ceiling, wondering how on earth I had managed to survive staying with her for the past few months.
“Breathe in and out. That’s the trick, Wren,” I said to myself. I was my own therapist. Tomorrow’s a new day, and hopefully, today doesn’t repeat itself.
However, that wish turned out to be a nightmare. The next day arrived, and I stood outside my house with my phone in my hand, staring at a text message with a picture attached to it.
[You’re a werewolf.] It read, and I clicked on the message, only to suck in a cold breath when I saw a picture of the three boys I had beaten up.
There was no way they were the ones who took the picture, which meant someone had taken it immediately after I left.
I grabbed my hair, my stomach tightening at the thought that someone knew I was a werewolf!
“I don’t even know who they are…” My fingers moved on the keyboard, and I pressed send.
[Who are you? Don’t even think of doing anything stupid.]
I bit my nail, waiting for a reply, and it came soon after.
[Come to the rooftop after the hockey training. I will be waiting there. If you fail to come, I’ll post this online… I have the full video.]
“Damn it!” I yelled, running and ignoring Maren’s yells behind me, my heart racing wildly as I ran across the street.
