WREN'S POV
I rushed up the stairs after practice, my heart racing wildly. I was too damn occupied with wondering who it could be, trying to make my life miserable, that I didn't even focus on the training, and of course, Coach yelled constantly, asking what was wrong with me.
I pushed the rooftop door open, looking around and breathing heavily. I walked inside, searching for the person, but there was no one in sight.
“Damn it!” I gripped my hair in frustration. Was the person toying with me?! I quickly checked the time. I had arrived two minutes early. There's no way this person did all that just to toy with me. I swear to God, if I find out who they are, I'll make sure they don't get away with it.
Right on time, I sensed footsteps approaching the rooftop, and I stiffened slightly before an idea suddenly crossed my mind. Even though it was risky, I still decided to take it. I ran to the far end of the rooftop and hid in a corner to see who the person was.
The person walked out, standing there before taking out their phone and looking at it. A frown drew on my face as my breathing grew heavy.
I couldn't see who it was, but judging by how relaxed this person was, they must be a student in this place or a teacher.
I quickly wiped the thought away when a buzz came from my phone, and I quickly took it out.
[You are not at the rooftop.]
So it's the bastard.
I slipped out from where I was hiding and saw the person standing there in a hockey jersey and a hoodie. I didn't waste any time running toward them. I grabbed the jersey and yanked it down.
A surprised gasp filled my ears before the person turned, and I gasped too.
“ASHER?!” I took multiple steps back. “You're the bastard who threatened me with those messages?”
He rolled his eyes, pulling his hoodie back onto his head. I stood there, confused. Why would he even do this? What the hell does he even want?
“I didn't threaten you,” he said through clenched teeth. “I only sent you a message through my number. Check it, and you will see.”
I checked our chat, and indeed, it was his number. I saw multiple past archived pictures of him there, and I shut my eyes, sighing softly.
I shut the phone screen. “So, all through the night, I have been anxious over nothing.”
“Delete the pictures and whatever images you have taken.” I forced the words out.
He stared at me for a while, and my brows drew tightly together.
Does he want a beating or what?
“Okay, then,” he said calmly, and I stood there, startled. He took his phone out, typing on it before showing me the screen. Indeed, they were deleted, but I eyed him suspiciously.
“Is that all? There's no copy or whatever sneaky remains in your laptop?” I raised my guard.
“No.” His face held a disgust that I wasn't ready to question. If he could take pictures of what didn't concern him, I saw no reason to be concerned about what kind of person he was.
I did not trust him.
“I do not trust you,” he said, startling me. He moved closer, and I moved backward, looking at him cautiously. “You hid the fact that you're a werewolf from me even when I told you I am one. Why would you do that?”
My jaw locked tightly, knowing I'd been caught with my ass exposed, and there was no way I could come up with a nice lie, but at the same time...
My hands clenched tightly, my expression turning cold. I wouldn't let anyone else find out about this and have me relocated again.
“When I told you that I am not a werewolf, you should have respected that instead of sneaking around my business,” I said through clenched teeth, backing him away. “Why are you so adamant about proving that I am a werewolf? Was that why you stalked and recorded what I did?”
He grabbed my hand, his eyes burning into me. Strands of his hair swayed slightly across his face, but they never covered his icy eyes.
“It's because I don't want you to do something you will regret. I don't know how unstable your wolf has been since the mate connection!” He forced the words out, pulling me forward. His hand tightened more around my wrist, pain shooting through my arm.
“Let go, Asher. You're hurting me.” I struggled to remove his fingers, but he didn't let go.
“Answer me one last time, Wren, and I'll let you go, but if you don't...” A cold glint flashed through his eyes, freezing my entire body. I sensed the murderous intent in his eyes, and that was when my eyes cleared and I knew he wasn't joking.
I gulped.
“Are you a werewolf?” he repeated. “Think twice before you give me an answer. This is your last chance.”
“You don't have the pictures anymore.” A cold smirk spread across my face as my confidence arose. “There's nothing you can do except break my arm, which will heal back in months.”
His eyes held shock, as though I were some lunatic. Sincerely, I didn't give a f**k if I appeared that way.
Only I knew the pain and suffering I went through in my life, and I wouldn't sit back and watch a boy destroy it because he wanted to confirm whether I'm a werewolf or not.
“Who told you it's your hand I want to break?” he whispered breathlessly, and I stared at him.
“You had your chance to give me an answer, and you blew it away. I will show you how serious I am, Wren.”
He yanked me along with him, walking toward the edge of the rooftop, and my heart sank as a thought entered my head.
“N-no! Asher! Let me go!” I screamed, struggling.
