Chapter five

1032 Words
A young werewolf walked toward where they were sitting and sat beside Melissa. "I'm Blake, a beta," he introduced himself. They nodded but didn't say anything. "You might not know it, but the two of you won't have a good life as captives. Be my woman, and I will ensure your well-being. My position in the kingdom and my place in the pack is very high. My father is a Duke, and I'm his direct heir. If you become my woman, I will make sure you don't live like a slave." Melissa looked at the handsome werewolf whose voice was laced with arrogance. She didn’t like how he spoke or carried himself. Everything about him screamed arrogance. She ignored him and continued staring at the bonfire. The werewolf Blake became furious. "Fine, you don’t want it the soft way? You will regret this," he threatened. "He is so narrow-minded. Are you sure he won’t hurt us?" Mara shook in fear. Melissa hugged her and patted her calmly. When it was time to sleep, they were given different tents. She lay on the soft mat and reflected on what had happened today. She might have escaped from the pack, but her future was still bleak. She was so tired from all the running during the day that she soon fell asleep. --- Melissa woke up with a start. She felt someone touching her body inappropriately and was forced to wake up. "Who’s that?" she shouted in fear. Blake’s figure appeared before her. "How dare you?" She felt humiliated and violated. Blake’s hand was grasping her breast tightly, kneading it. "Shut up and don’t shout if you still want to live. If I kill you now, nobody will care about you. Know your position and behave." Melissa ignored his warning and acted on impulse. She grabbed his hands that were on her breast and bit them. Blake let out a loud shriek and pulled away from her. She took this opportunity to escape, but Blake grabbed her hands and yanked her back. "How dare you?" he growled. "How dare you touch my woman!" A louder, more authoritative voice reverberated. The two froze. Blake shook in fear. Melissa was confused and didn’t understand. When did I become his woman? "My Lord, I didn’t know she was your woman, I was just—" "You are just what? Trying to r**e her?" he growled. "I... I didn’t know she was your woman. I swear I wouldn’t have touched her." "Nonsense. So you mean you can r**e anybody as long as they’re not my woman?" Blake was speechless. He was now in big trouble. No matter how he tried to explain himself, the Alpha refuted him. By this time, everybody had awakened and gathered around the tent. "I'm sorry, my Lord. I will atone for my sin when we get back." As the son of a Duke, he believed the King wouldn’t punish him easily. "You can now tell me how you want me to punish you, right? I’m the King of Evermore and Alpha of Silverdale. I decide if you live or die, and right now, I don’t find you pleasing to the eyes. Execute him!" His voice was calm and firm. No one dared to refute him. Two men came forward and dragged Blake away. "No, you can’t do this! My father is a Duke. He won’t be happy if you execute me for such a small case." "Attempting to r**e the future Queen of Evermore and Luna of Silverdale is a small case?" He looked at him in contempt. Everyone was confused. When did she become the Alpha’s mate? Melissa was even more confused. She looked at the Alpha in distress. He hadn’t even asked for her consent and already thought of her as his woman. This didn’t give her a good feeling, but she didn’t dare confront him. For now, what mattered most was keeping her head—and Mara’s. But her wolf seemed to disagree. It howled with happiness as if celebrating. She could feel something drawing her wolf toward him. It communicated with her desire to possess Alex. She couldn’t understand these feelings; this was the first time it had happened. If she had been well informed, she would have known the reason her wolf was acting that way was because he was her fated mate. Alex, who was more knowledgeable, had already understood the feeling. This is something that rarely happens. Not every wolf has or can find their fated mate, not even Alphas. Because of its rarity, many werewolves don’t know about it—only a few knowledgeable ones. When you find your fated mate, nothing can separate the two of you. Even if you were blood enemies before, you will still end up together. Alex wasn’t just a king; he was also an Alpha. He was knowledgeable about all this and was able to recognize his fated mate at first sight. That was why he didn’t kill her. If not, she wouldn’t have been able to live. He had fought her before and seen how strong she was. He was really impressed. Very few wolves can withstand a swipe of his claws, yet she was able to exchange blows with him for a short moment. From what he saw, she was only defeated quickly because she lacked experience, not because she was weak. And also, her wolf—the color seemed special. He had only read about wolves with that color in history, and they seemed to possess very strong healing abilities. Although he wasn’t sure if she was the same. The more he looked at her, the more satisfied he felt with his choice. She was beautiful and brave. Melissa thought the way the Alpha looked at her was strange. The fact that he had just met her and already wanted to make her his mate was even stranger. She wondered if the Alpha was mentally ill, but she didn’t dare say such words. The other werewolves and humans were all giving her strange gazes, wondering what was so special about her that the Alpha wanted to make her his mate even though they had just met.
