Liora practically dragged Rowan out of Professor John’s ward before he could say another word that would send Zaian spiraling into the wrong conclusions. She kept her expression composed for her mentor’s sake, but the moment the door closed behind them, she exhaled hard through her nose.
She turned back briefly, softened her voice, and told Zaian, “I’ll return to the pack soon. My grandfather was discharged yesterday, I need to check on him. Please stay with Professor John tonight.” She said softly.
Zaian nodded, still processing Rowan’s presence. “Of course. Call me when you reach home.” he replied her. Liora gave him a reassuring look before stepping into the hallway with Rowan.
