Chapter 4Rue walked around the garden, his skin itching with the feeling of being watched. He’d looked around a hundred times, if not more, but he couldn’t see anyone. “Rue.” Chaton neared him slowly from underneath the copper beech. “Look.” He held up a pot with a few small green leaves peeking up through the soil. “Great.” He nodded. “I’m gonna let them grow a little more, then I’m gonna plant some of them in the garden and have some of them inside in pots.” “Sounds like a great plan.” Rue watered the pots on the porch. He’d planted in everything from old cans to yogurt containers. It was time to put the seedlings into the soil for real, and he couldn’t deny a tiny fizzle of excitement.
