17. Be Ready for me

Zoya’s POV

When Lucas and Aiden were about to leave, Lucas turned around and came back to my desk as I stood up.

“I’ve been searching for you all these years Zoya. Now that I found you, I will do anything to have you back,” saying only that Lucas turned around and went to the elevator with a smirk on his face.

I was dumbfounded. I did not know what to say or think. Did he think that I am just a toy or a property for him to acquire? Yes, I had feelings for him once…, and I am still hurting, but I don’t want the same things happening all these years later. I had enough heartache and regrets to last me a lifetime.

I walked to Mr. Mirzaya’s room. When I went inside the cabin, I saw him deep in thoughts. He seemed upset, even angry. And what’s this? Do I see disgust in his eyes? What did Lucas and Aiden say to him?

“Mr. Mirzaya, it’s almost 1pm. Shall I serve you lunch?” He didn’t say anything to me but just nodded. So, the disgust that I saw in his eyes, were they towards me? Am I so repulsive and worthless that he doesn’t even want to talk to me? It felt as if someone was ripping my heart into pieces.

So, what if he though less of me why is it bothering me? Why do I feel so hurt by his judging stares?

The rest of the day went as usual. We finished work and left for home at the end of the day. He didn’t say a single word and my heart ached for him to call me, scold me, lash out at me…, anything. Anything would be better than this silence.
