Guilt weighed heavy on my chest.
I should have known threats wouldn’t work on Amanda. I should have used my Alpha command on her. Or I should have never left at all. The thought gnawed at me, refusing to fade, as I sat stiffly in my seat on the plane.
Across from me, Klaus was silent. Not because he was angry—but because he was lost in his thoughts, his entire focus consumed by the urgency of returning home. That only made my guilt worse.
