It was supposed to be a simple mission—two, maybe three days at most. We’d retrieve Maja, gather whatever intel we could, and sweep the area for any sign of the hunters. If we found them, we’d capture them—kill if necessary—and sterilize the area so they couldn’t come back.
The Riverdale Pack’s territory had once been thriving. Rich soil, abundant wildlife, and enough natural barriers to keep outsiders away. They’d lived comfortably in isolation for generations, content to let the rest of the world spin without them. But that isolation had also made them vulnerable, a tempting target for those who knew how to exploit it. If we could reclaim the land and make it safe again, it could serve as a stronghold—one less place for our enemies to hide.
