Melanie was watching the monsters on the beach they had just vacated. From the distance, they looked much smaller and less terrifying. Even though they were down on that beach a day ago, all four explorers were ready to put some distance between the monsters and themselves. Gundersen had checked the plateau for any sign of game animals. Finding none, they decided to head back upriver until they found sign of the deer.
Everyone left and headed back. Melanie stayed behind several minutes to get a final look at the beach and the monsters occupying it, before turning away to follow the rest.
