“That’s all I can expect.” Murdock grinned. “Whatever you decide, be well and take care.”

Shortly after leaving the medical facility, Mei Lee climbed the face of the second step, with Curtis and Angelica behind her, Emily driving the cart with the younger children and all the equipment, Andy and Chun Hua following the cart, and Declan riding drag.
“How come the rest ain’t followin’?” Curtis said, when they were halfway up the face. He had stopped and looked back.
“No need to worry about them,” Mei Lee said, irritated. “They’re well-versed in navigating this obstacle. Just pay attention to what you’re doing and keep going. They’ll catch up.”
