Rain Bowen was informed by the school I go to that he needs to take an assessment test to be able to get in. The result of this test will enable them to measure which level he should be in. I wanted him to be in the same grade as mine so I help him a lot in reviewing for his test. We have been spending the last few days studying. Luckily, his mother is a teacher so he is not that behind when it comes to academics.
"Hah!" Bowen exhaled sharply then leaned back on his chair.
"What?" He got my attention which has been focused on Bridget and Fama's nonstop bickering. We're in the library in my house with Rich and his mate Marcela, Fama, and Bridget. I have been watching Fama and Bridget since they came because I have not seen Fama behave his way. He mostly doesn't care about Bridget or what she does until now, and he follows her around a lot which annoys the hell out of Rich's cousin.
"Can we have a little break?" Bowen looked at me straight in the eye. He seemed tired which immediately made me worried.
"Are you okay?" I asked in a really low voice. Bowen has changed a lot in the past few days. He had gained more confidence and had been able to avoid casting his eyes down whenever he's talking to someone.
"I just feel a little drained. We have been doing this for several days now. I am not used to doing these things." He explained.
I nodded and smiled. I glanced at my watch. It's three in the afternoon so it might be good to set up some snacks. I turned to the group. "Guys! How about we chill outside by the pool?"
"Barbeque party?" Rich asked who was sitting on the couch while playing with Marcela's long blonde hair who was sitting beside him.
I grinned. "Sure!"
"I'm going to the kitchen and look for some meat." Bridget suddenly stood up and volunteered. I was appalled but eventually agreed.
Bridget immediately went out the door after hearing my agreement with Fama on her heels.
I grimaced. "What's with Fama? He had been acting weird lately."
Rich and Marcela chuckled so I looked at them questioningly.
"Must be the mate pull," Marcela answered in her soft and delicate voice.
My frown deepened. "Mate pull?"
"Yeah!" Rich nodded. "Fama turned eighteen before we left for Russia, right?" I nodded so he continued. "Bridget will be turning eighteen this Saturday."
"So?" I glanced at Bowen who is also listening to Rich.
"Fama could be feeling the mate pull towards Bridget since she is nearing her adulthood and her first shift," Marcela explained while grinning.
"Did you also feel it when you were near your first shift?" I asked the couple.
Rich shook his head while Marcela nodded. "Not everyone experiences the mate pull. I don't know, why! There has been no explanation yet. But a shifter usually feels it when his mate has already turned eighteen or is near the first shift. It is because his or her wolf is waking so one can feel heightened senses or something." Marcela explained slowly.
"What did you feel during those times?" I asked. Curious.
Marcela pouted and looked up. "Well! I seem to think about Rich a lot when I don't even like him before. Also, I wanted to always see him and be with him. What he feels seems to matter to me a lot. And, I feel really calm when I am with him."
Rich chuckled. "Head over heels, hon?" He said while looking lovingly at his mate. Marcela giggled, "Yeah! I guess so!" Then they stared at each other like they are the only ones in the room.
I cast my eyes down while trying to absorb what Marcela has told me. Those things are what I have been feeling for Bowen. 'But, he is a male so it isn't possible, is it?' I asked myself and involuntarily glanced at Bowen.
I swallowed hard when my eyes collided with his amber ones. One of his brows shot up as if asking me if something is wrong. I shook my head and tried to smile which made him frown. After a few seconds, he sighed and stood up.
"I should set up the barbeque. You guys must be hungry." He said and went out.
"He's kind of cool," Rich said while looking at the door so I know that he was referring to Bowen. "Too bad he doesn't have a wolf."
I sighed. "Yeah!"
"He is really beautiful for a male. Are you sure he's a boy?" My eyes snapped to Marcela.
"So, you are doubtful, too?" I grinned.
"Well! I just thought he was a girl when I first saw him."
"Same here. It was really hard for me to know his gender." Rich agreed.
I laughed. "I thought he was a girl, too."
"He would have been breathtakingly beautiful if he is a girl," Marcela commented.
"Yeah, I guess!" I said. 'But he is breathtakingly beautiful to me. No matter if he's a boy.' I added mentally and sighed.
"I think we should follow them." I stood up. Rich did the same and helped Marcela up. We made our way to the kitchen but was stopped on our tracks when we saw Bowen standing frozen at the kitchen door.
Worry immediately overwhelmed me so I hurriedly walked and peeked at what he was looking at. My jaw dropped at the sight.
Bowen was all pale looking at Fama and Bridget. Bridget was propped up on the kitchen counter with her legs wrapping Fama's waist. Her arms snaked around my delta's neck and they are eating each other's lips with gusto.
I looked back at Bowen who is still wide-eyed. I pulled his arm to turn him around while biting my lip. Trying hard not to laugh at his reaction.
I guess this guy hasn't done anything like it before, and that thought really made me happy.
