Vivian wasn't even his biological mother. He was the product of his father's affair with another woman. Because of this, she hated his existence. Every time she looked at his face, her rage would flare up, and she would beat him, burn him, and lock him in dark rooms.
That revelation was the only confirmation I had needed. I decided that no matter what happened to me, no matter how much Adrian or his family hated me, I was never going to let this horror continue for another single day.
