"Because any decent defense lawyer will tear a loose audio recording to pieces in court," Adrian answered calmly, stepping closer to me. "They will claim the audio was edited, or that the voices were impersonated, or that it was obtained illegally without consent in a private residence. A court will not convict a mother based solely on a third-party audio file provided by someone who entered the house without permission."
