Kyle moved like an hungry lion as he steeped towards the reception, all the energy, all the anger boiling inside, and every single compressed emotion was about to be unleashed. He sights Hilda from afar and the message she sent flickered in his eyes increasing the rage he already felt. He stands up and faced straight into the direction she was entering from as Hilda slid the glass door behind her. “I WILL KILL YOU” He roared as she faced him after sliding the door close. The sound of Kyle’s voice echoed through the reception as everyone stared in shock. The weight of the words caught everyone unaware, the room became as quiet as a crypt, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. No one spoke, no one moved, everyone was both shock and confused at the same time. Hilda breaks the silence looking unfazed , “Who you do think you are?” She screamed back not caring that all eyes were on them, she walked confidently towards him and grabbed his shirt and twisted it so tightly that the two buttons got destroyed and fell down, Kyle looked like he just experienced the shock of his life, before he could react Hilda came closer and gave him a hot slap, Kyle tripped and fell backwards, fortunately he was saved by the wooden table at his back. “You’re a useless man” she screamed as everybody just stood there and watched. “Stingy fool” she continued as she spat on him and turned to leave. Kyle was speechless as he stood there barely sane, it felt like a dream, he was still resting on the desk that kept him from falling, the desk that kept his misery from reaching its peak. His mind was bombarded with a myriad of thoughts, every possibility ran though his mind as he contemplated on what to do. Should he let her go? Should he go after her to avoid looking weak? Or perhaps he should apologize. Apologize? He expelled the thought of ever apologizing as fast as it came. He could feel the anger swell in his chest, he thought of what to say to her as she was approaching the door, “I WILL KILL YOU” He screamed like a wounded lion. Silence covered the room, He could immediately feel the impact of the sentence as everyone gasps at weight of the statement. Hilda turned to look at him still trying to help himself up, she turned her head at him, smiled and walked out. As she stepped out reality hit him, he was warned about this from the beginning, how could he say something like that? How could he have been so out of control?, he felt like a child. He could feel everyone staring at him like a murderer, he felt shame and depression mixed together. With all eyes still on him, he helped himself up gently, he caught the stare of Mr Koffi, he could see the “I TOLD YOU SO” expression written on his face. The rest of the day was hell on earth, from drafting letters while being insecure to typing quietly feeling embarrassed for himself, he could hear the whispers, he could feel the shame catching up to him. He left quietly and drove home with mixed feelings. Aching resentment and lingering sadness enveloped him that he couldn’t even fall asleep. To his surprise he found himself trying to call Hilda, it rang so he was a little relieved she didn’t block him yet, he tried and tried to reach her but she never picked. He decided to send a text message as he lay emotionally drained on his barely layed bed; “FORGIVE ME HILDA, I DIDN’T MEAN TO SAY THAT” . He stared at the message for 30 minutes but there was still no answer. He felt very stupid, but at least he knew he did the right thing, perhaps an apology in person might be better, He slept of after calling her number eighteen times. —— Kyle adjusted his tie as flashbacks of when it use to be Hilda adjusting it came to his mind, he slid the glass door of the reception not knowing what to expect, he remembered every bit of the previous day. “Kyle, Kyle” Mr Koffi screamed his name as he entered the main reception. “She is dead, Hilda is dead.
