“Josey waterproofed them,” Melissa explained as she tossed the jumble of objects into the pool that lapped gently against the ledge we stood on. A dusting of flour coated them, sparkling even though there was no sunlight present. “But she said it wouldn’t last long.”
Sure enough, the charms didn’t sink. Instead, they spread out in a ring of gently glistening power. The Queen, I suspected, would feel their existence. I needed to work fast.
