“YOUR WISH, MY COMMAND!”

VIONNE'S POV “You think I'm joking?” I shook my head. “No, I'm not,” I said with all seriousness. Maybe he'd— “Of course I know you're daaaamn serious, Kitten.” He said, drinking the soup like nothing else mattered. Not sparing me a glance, he asked, “Do I tell Miss Vivian to pack your bags?” His words hit me so hard that something cracked inside me, mixed with a touch of anger. Handsome, rude Rein, enjoying his meal while my hungry worms feasted on me. I swear! I've never felt this embarrassed in my life by some aged man who thinks he's worth my time. I'm sure those balls between his legs are sagging. He was supposed to apologize, right? But he doesn't even want me. He really wants me to leave? Or was this all a display to make me feel unwanted? As I thought about it, my chest squeezed painfully. The ache was unbearable. “Miss Vivian. I need you downstairs.” His deep voice cut through my thoughts. I jolted back to reality, my eyes drifting to him. He had just sent her an audio. Like... Why not a text? Was he doing all of this to make me realize I was nobody and that he didn't give a f**k about me? “You really would tell her to pack my bags?” I asked, my voice laced with disbelief and hurt. “Your wish. My command, Kitten.” He said softly, his cutlery reaching for the grilled chicken on the tray. My chest tightened. I f*****g HATE THIS MAN. WHAT SORT OF EGO IS THIS? I swallowed hard. I was caught between being hungry, confused, and also regretful… And somehow that made everything worse. What is freaking wrong with me? And then something else came rushing in… How do I get back at my f*****g family without him? How do I stay in that mold of a house? I can't f*****g leave now. I only tried to threaten him with that so he would at least let me eat. And now he actually wants me to leave. No remorse. No apology. No concern. “I think you are o—” I didn't even know what I was going to say, but I knew it was going to be a savage response. But just then, a servant stepped in and interrupted. My eyes drifted to him. He was holding a well-packaged bluish box tied with red ribbons. It instantly reminded me of someone. Darien, who was halfway into biting the crispy grilled chicken, paused to look up. I could see the surprise on his face, like he wasn't expecting it either. “Hello, Captain.” He bowed. “I'm sorry to disturb your meal. I received a package for Miss Vionne.” My mouth dropped open. “What?” I didn't even know how the word escaped my lips. I didn't think I'd heard right. Darien dropped the chicken so quickly it was as if it had burned him. Sitting upright, he stared at the servant, or maybe he was trying to digest the information. His gaze darkened as he looked from the box to me. Meanwhile, I was literally shaking, wondering who had sent the box and how they even knew my location. Was it the same person who sent that message earlier? Maddie? She didn't know where I was. Moreover, I'd only been brought here this morning. “VIONNE?” His voice thundered, his cold eyes fixed on me. “Y-yes,” I responded immediately. “Wait, what? Did you share your address already?” he asked, his jaw clenched, like he was trying so hard not to— I looked at him for a moment, completely lost. Was he seriously asking me that? Did I even know where I was? “No... no, I didn't.” I said, my voice barely audible, making it sound like I was lying when I wasn't. “Don't lie to me!” “I'm not! Why are you trying to make me feel stupid? I don't know anything about this place!” I shot back, my voice rising with each word. He gave me one last glance before looking back at the uniformed man. “What's inside that box?” he demanded, his face as dark as— “Didn't check the contents yet,” the servant answered quickly, his gaze fixed on the floor, like he was scared to look at Darien. From where I stood, I could feel the power radiating from him. I was completely lost and, more importantly, hungry. My eyes were not leaving Darien. Sorry, I mean the food. And the aroma felt like an enemy to my stomach. “Who sent the package?” Darien asked after what felt like forever. I wasn't understanding anything anymore. That's how badly hungry I was. “Mr. Harrison.” He said, pulling a paper from beneath the ribbon. At the mention of that name, time paused. My head froze. I forgot how to breathe. It was as though I'd lost my memory. Harrison? WAIT. What? How? You mean Harrison, my ex-husband? Or was this a different Harrison? I was definitely going to run crazy. That name almost choked me to death on the spot. “Harrison?” Darien echoed, like he didn't even believe the name himself. Like the name belonged to an enemy. Before I could blink, he was already on his feet. His eyes turned scarily dark. And for the first time, I saw real anger on his face. In his eyes. In his body. He couldn't even hide it. Who the hell thought anything could get to him? I thought he doesn’t get angry. Did something shift? Emotionally? Physically? Jealously? Or was he just f*****g overwhelmed? I almost laughed. Because, God. He had the cutest laughably angry face. And for a few seconds, I was happy Harrison had sent the gift. Right now, I honestly didn't care who it was.
