Chapter-9

Today is not like any other usual day. I woke up with a determination to find answers. I completed my daily morning routine and was now waiting for my friends to arrive. Every day, by the time I get ready, my uncle John would have left to office. But today he was still at the house for some reason. He greeted me good morning, and I did the same. After sometime my friends came, and they also showed enthusiasm about the discussion that we are about to have. So what’s the plan? Nyssa asked. First of all we need to find someone who has knowledge about supernatural stuff. Not the people who tell crap to make money, I suggested. Where are we going to find such a person? David asked. We started thinking but couldn’t come up with any idea. It was like the discussion came to an end before it had even begun.  Then Ronny started saying, guys in many of the stories there will be a kid who thinks he’s weird for some reason, and later he learns that he has powers but was kept in dark for his own safety. Does this ring any bells? I started thinking, and suddenly an idea popped in my mind. I got up and ran towards my uncle John. I found him in the garden, relaxing. I went near him and said, Uncle, does my father give any stuff to you to hand it over to me? Or do you have anything that belonged to my father? He remained silent and was just staring at me with no expressions. Please uncle, it’s really important. Anything would be helpful. He then got up and walked to his room, I followed him. He then opened his biometric locker and took out a box from inside. While giving me the box, he said, "Sangue” and “Turn after every step.” He then handed over the box to me and said, your father asked me to give you this box when you crossed an age of 21 and when you ask about your father desperately. He didn’t want me to tell you anything about them before 21. As you are 23 years old, I can now tell you about your father and mother. So uncle, do you know everything about them? No, Steve, your father came out of nowhere. I don’t even know where he was born. He came to Australia two years before you were born.                          He started the company “Phoenix” and soon became the strongest rival of all the existing companies. He was a great businessman and enthusiast. No matter how many companies plotted against him to see his downfall, he single-handedly tackled them all. He was super smart, kind and many other things. I was an employee in his company back then. I was having a financial crisis at that time. I needed money for my children’s education, my father’s treatment and even for daily needs. Your father paid me well, but I was in some serious debts. At that condition your father helped me out by clearing all my debts. At that time, I sort of pledged my allegiance to him.                       Days passed and one day, some goons from rival companies mugged me and beat the hell out of me to spill some secrets about Phoenix. But I didn’t even say a single word to them. I only said one thing, you can kill me, but I won’t tell you anything. Maybe they didn’t have the orders to kill me, so they left. Your father came to know about this. That is the moment he started trusting me. One thing I want to tell you about your father is, it’s difficult to gain his trust but once if he realizes your loyalty, he will stand with you, despite the odds against you. I proved my loyalty in that incident. From then I started getting promotions, and he finally made me a member of Board of Directors. He was really kind to everyone, he is the reason people don’t object you from being CEO despite your inactiveness. So as time passed his empire became worldwide along with it, enemies too. But that didn’t matter to him. He always gets what he wants.                    One night, your father and I were travelling to Newcastle to discuss a deal. It was raining so heavily with thunder storms. We could barely see the road. But your father was an amazing driver though. Because of the weather, I could barely see any vehicle on that road. It was dangerous to travel in that road in the current situation. As we travelled for some time, we could see a women’s silhouette standing in the middle of road. As soon as I saw her, I remembered about wrong turn movie where cannibals stand in between the road, gets hit and eat us alive when we get down to check them. I advised your father not to stop the car. But he was fearless. He said it’s okay John, don’t worry. He slowed down the car, and finally we stopped near her. Your father opened the window; the women leaned over and asked if we could her lift as her scooty got punctured and because of heavy rain, her lip stick spoiled, and it appeared as blood around her mouth. I imagined what if she is a vampire and she daily stops people to drink their blood for her appetite. Get in, your father said and she entered the car.                  My terror was written all over my face. But your father has been smiling all the time. Do you guys believe in vampires, she asked. I wanted to shout for help, but controlled myself. Your father understood that she was playing with my fear.      Diana: Thank you so much for the lift, I don’t know what I would do if you haven’t stopped. August: Helping a girl in need is every man’s responsibility. So, where are you heading in this awful climate, miss?  Diana: I am a psychologist and one of my friends in Newcastle has called me and said it was an emergency. August: Can we ask about the emergency that you speak of.  Diana: You guys would probably find it funny or even crazy. My friend said that her kid started behaving weirdly these days, and she is thinking that her kid is possessed.  August: That’s a big term. So what do you think about it? Diana: Well, I feel that possession is a myth. When we don’t understand what is going on, giving a name to it comforts us. Maybe that’s why she called her daughter’s erratic behaviour to be possession. August:  I have a feeling that you are really good at what you do. Diana: Thank you and yes I am.   Diana chuckled.    August: Would you mind if we come along with you to see your work? Diana: That’s fine. But I assume you have some pressing matters to attend. August: Anything could wait for a pretty and charming girl, I suppose.  Diana: Oh! So you are a flirt too.                   August: I am much more than what I look.                    They talked and talked like that for an hour and she fell asleep. Your father started to like her from the moment he saw her. Of course she was stunning and fearless, just like him. We reached Newcastle at 5 o’clock in the morning. I didn’t have enough sleep so I decided to stay in car. She and your father went to check the patient. They returned to the car after 5 hours, I guess. We still have a meeting to attend to, sir, I said. I remember, David. We’ll start right after we inform Diana. Your mother gave her number to your father and said, call me if you need any psychological help and she chuckled. I might need your help right after the meeting, your father flirted which made her blush. She left after that. Soon they fell in love with each other and got married and you were the result of their love. It’s really great to know about my parents, Uncle John. But did my father mention anything specifically to say to me? Anything would be helpful. When I met your father for the last time before accident, he said, “My son has a great destiny waiting for him and if he is worthy enough he will recognise it and embrace it.”
