Chapter 2

Dream Gleaming small dust streamed into the room. It brought a warm feeling as it touched my skin. I unconsciously smiled and hugged the soft pillow beside me. Something light touched my face as well as some strands of my hair. I thought it was my friend, Rosanna. I then remembered my bad dream. I chuckled a bit with still closed eyes while she was still stroking my hair. "Do you know, Rosanna? I have a weird dream. In that dream, I was in a creepy party, surrounded by people in a mask." Clear images of that scenario flashed in my head. I shoved my face down on the lavender-scented pillow. "They danced with intense music. And I got this feeling that once it stopped, they would attack me, so I ran as much as I could." She didn't answer, but she paused. "Then, suddenly, five men appeared in front of me." I tried to remember the faces, especially that man in the center, but I couldn't. "And you know what's more interesting?" "What?" A low voice asked. I smiled and opened my eyes. "They appeared to be an ancient myth, a vampire. And one of them bit-" I was stunned when I saw an unfamiliar child instead of Rosanna. He's lying beside me with his blank expression. I shrieked and jumped out of the bed. "W-Who are you kid? What are you doing here in our room?!" I exclaimed. He rolled his eyes as if he was annoyed. "You have a late reaction. So slow." This kid! He put his shoes on the floor and arms on the back of his head like an arrogant guy. "What?" I asked when he eyed me from head to toe and gave me this bored expression. "You look mediocre." My mouth parted. Before I could lash out at him, a face flashed on my head. I shuddered when I realized that he was one of the five men in my dream! But how can this happen? Is that possible? He is just a part of my dream...or am I still dreaming? I saw his face laced with shock as I slapped both of my cheeks to see if I was still asleep. "What the heck?" He said. But I ignored him. My face felt hot and in pain. I couldn't believe it. It's real! He is real! "You're a crazy woman." I looked at him with wide eyes before I shifted my eyes around the room. That's when I realized that it wasn't the hotel room either. It was a different room. With its classic style, I wouldn't believe I'm still in the hotel. My feet neared towards the window to peek. He moved aside with a frustrated expression. "W-Where am I?" I asked with a creepy feeling when I didn't see Paris. Instead, I saw the landscape that I saw last night. The lively huge buildings and skyscrapers were turned into classic-style buildings and boulevards, the cars were replaced by fiacres, and everyone can be seen in their bright, lavish and conservative dresses and formal suits, exuding their beauty and elegance that is hard to see nowadays. This can't be real. Why does it feel like I turned back to the 19th century? Bewildered, I glanced at the child. He was crossing his arms while watching me with the same bored expression. And this kid, even his look and clothes... "Are you done?" He asked after I checked him more than once. I clenched my fists before I stride towards him. His forehead creased as I pointed at him with my index finger. "Y-You! Tell me what's going on! Why am I here? What is this place? Who are you!" He pushed my hands away from his face with piercing eyes. I gulped before it sinks in me that what happened in my dreams was...probably all real. But how can that be possible? "This isn't a dream." Words leaked out from my mouth. He stared and answered, "Of course. Or do you want me to bite you? To make it more realistic for you?" "What?" He winced and rolled his eyes again. He murmured something but I didn't hear it. I was still stunned. I just stared at him as my head hovered with lots of questions such as; what is this place? Is this still Paris? Why am I here? Where is the Museum? Who is this young man? Where is Rosanna? And that...weird happenings in my dream. Are they all really true? "I bet you have a lot of questions. Just set aside it later. Leon will answer your questions." The child said, which made me look at him. "Leon?" He yawned and gestured his hand instead of answering me. Two women in a maid's dress appeared beside him. I blinked as they bowed to me. "They will attend you to your bath and all." he scanned me again with a disgusted expression. "You can't go out and have breakfast with us with that stupid look." This child. He has a foul mouth. He might be screaming elegance, but his attitude is very unpleasant. I like kids, but this boy is an exception. Even if he looks really adorable with his blonde curly hair and rounded ashes-colored eyes. "Make sure to make her look decent. And bring her to dining area immediately. We don't want to make them wait." He strictly told to the maids. I winced, and he caught it as his eyes turned back to me. He craned his neck and gave me an arrogant expression again. "If you want to stay alive, follow the major rule. Don't run." After he said those words, he turned and walked towards the door. But before he closed it, he gave me another warning look. "W-What?" I asked but he just sneered and slammed the door. "What's wrong with that kid? And did he just threatened me?" I blurted out in annoyance. But I was taken aback when the two maids raised their blank faces at me and without hesistation, they yanked my arm to another room. Then they forcibly ripped my panjamas, even my undergarments! "W-Wait!" I exclaimed and tried to stop them, but then both of them wouldn't let me speak. One gripped my arm and one pushed me into the bathtub. "W-What in the world..." I said in both shock and fright expression as they both nodded in each other like they both agree to do something bad on me. "P-Please listen to me first..." I smiled at them that turned wy when they just both step forward. I screamed but it was just at first. It turns out, they just really taking me to a bath like a child. In the end, I just let them since they wouldn't leave me alone. It feels awkward but I couldn't do anything but just let them. And it seemed that they were in a hurry because afterwards, they pulled me again to dress me up. "A dress---ack? That hurts!" I said when one pushed the corset behind me. I felt like my waist would break in no time. It was too tight! Again, my words weren't interesting enough for them to listen to. They made me wear this unbreathable dress and even fixed my hair. "At least let me see myself in the mirror." I said when they appeared to be finished. But instead of answering me, they pushed me towards the door. They positioned in both side and both subtly gestured the grand staircase. They are ridiculous. I took a deep sigh and just followed what they wanted. I took a step down the staircase, one by one, with a heavy chest. Guarded, and wondering about what would appear in front of me. But then, each step made my worries fade as the view slowly sink in me. The architectural designs, the statues and paintings, all the things that my eyes would land on looks so beautiful and enchanting. "So you're awake now." The sudden voice from behind surprised me. I had almost lost my balance if only they wouldn't catch me. I felt a hand on my waist before I found his gaze. A man with silver hair and a pair of caramel eyes gently smiled at me. He got me back to my feet. Then he placed his hand on his chest and bowed in front of me like a prince. Well, he indeed dressed up like a real prince. "Salut beauté." He said with a French accent that made me a bit shocked. He peered at one eye and gently pulled one of my hands to subtly kiss it when I couldn't find the words to say. My cheeks heated before I pulled my hand away. He might have no danger aura on him, but I can't trust no one. "Who are you?" I asked. He smiled again. He looks like an angel with his angelic face. "I'm Theodore, but you can call me, Theo." He then gestured his gloved hand. "I want to have more time alone with you, my lady, but this isn't the right time for us. Why don't we continue our conversation in the dining hall? Everyone is probably already there right now. They will be pleased to meet you too." They? Come to think of it, that child said the same thing. But who are they? Are they the four other men with him in that creepy scene? Am I going to see that man who bit me too? The man offered his hand to me, interrupting my thoughts. I looked down at it with nervousness before I took a deep sigh and nodded. I take his hand. But it startled me when he gently pulled me to his warm body and whispered, "But I'm more than pleased than everybody else here, my lady"
