"Should I chuck a bottle at him for him to believe?" Paul suggested. Leah narrowed her eyes at her best friend while Sarah scowled, "I would like to see you try to hurt my brother!" "What are you going to do about it? Cry? Whine? Coz last time I checked Leah stripped you off your powers!" Paul stuck his tongue out like a six-year-old while Sarah huffed and turned to Leah. "Can't you just give me my powers back?" She pouted. "Just for a little while, so that I can whoop this ass' ass." "No can do. That's my best friend, right shawty?" Leah rolled her eyes. "As much as I would love to assist you in whooping his ass Sarah, I can't. We follow certain rules and plans. And you being the hyper person that you are, I am not returning your power for at least another three days. You get your powers back on Friday, I promise." "Okay." Calum sighed as he looked between Leah and the thin air she was talking to. "Can I ever see her?" Leah shrugged. "No one was ever able to see the ghosts that I have met before. I don't know how it works. I am planning to do some research at my grandparents' next weekend." "Where do they live?" "It's just my grandma, and she lives down at Summertown, an hour from Greenfield." Leah replied, taking out the container for her contacts and taking them out of her eyes, making Calum jump back instantly. "Please don't do that!" He exclaimed, clutching his chest. "Your eyes are the freakiest thing I have seen in my life." "Among other things." Leah rolled her eyes again. Sarah and Paul guffawed out loud. He was with a girl who can see and interact and even control ghosts, the ghost of his younger sister and a boy who died twenty-three years were right next to him and he was concerned about the eye color of said girl. He rubbed his forehead and shook his head, letting out a chuckle. "You are right." He finally said, "This should be the least of my concerns." "You really shouldn't be having any concerns Calum." Leah said, getting up from the crate she was perched up on. "This is not your fight. It's Sarah's and mine." "What do you mean?" He was angry with what she had said. "I am her brother and you are no one." "I am her vessel." Leah asserted. "And I made the promise to find her murderer." "And I promised her the same as her brother." He said. "And why did you tell me everything if you didn't want me in on all of this?" It was a question that Leah had been asking herself, a question that Paul and Michael wanted to ask her. Why did she tell him? She kept telling herself that she needed his help to get through Sarah's circle but was that the real reason? She had never told her own parents about her abilities; why did she tell him? She was leaving it to time to answer that question for her. "Well, I had to make sure you didn't think I killed your sister, now didn't I?" She lied through her teeth. "You could have not told me anything and let her be found by some other means." He retaliated. "Why did you care whether her body was found or not?" "Well, there are things you won't understand." She sighed. "Alright fine, you are also a part of this plan and your job is to find possible suspects in her circle." "And yours?" "Research some anomalies she has been exhibiting, I have been experiencing and then pull out a systematic schedule for hosting sessions." "Hosting sessions?" "Yeah, she needs to be hosted in my body for her to remember what had happened to her." "As in, she will possess you." Leah rolled her eyes while Paul chuckled. She hated it when someone – it was usually a ghost – said she was going to be possessed. She was not some mere puny human that anyone could tag along and possess, she was a vessel – she hosted ghosts, she was not possessed by them. "I host ghosts. No ghost can possess me." She pointed out but then shrugged. "Conditions applied." "What's the difference?" Paul chuckled again. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing." Leah was fed up with the explanations and clarifications. It was safe to say she wasn't the most patient with noobs in the department of paranormal occurrences and entities. "Can we go now? I need to get home!" She put back her contacts, checked herself in her phone and adjusted her hair and hood so that the light was concealed, then pulling the sleeve down to hide her hands as well before putting on her backpack and walking towards the door. "Wait, how am I supposed to know s**t if you don't tell me anything?" Calum grabbed his own bag and followed her while Sarah and Paul stood and watched. "They have chemistry, don't you think?" Paul asked, an amused smile on his face. "Chemistry?" Sarah turned to him with a raised brow. "They are not even that acquainted and they already bicker like a married couple! Let's follow them!" "Meh, no. Let them be for today." Sarah was confused but nodded nevertheless. "Okay." . . . ____________________________
