"Yo, we can't leave in the middle of school hours!" Leah's words fell on deaf ears as he continued walking to his jeep, where, as always, he opened the door for her and waited for her to get in.
Leah gave him a flat look and just rooted herself to the spot, crossing her arms around her chest.
"Leah, we need to find him."
"Do you know who he is?"
He shook his head.
"Do you know where he lives? Or where he hangs out?"
He shook his head again, looking down, finally realizing how impulsive he was being.
Leah sighed. "I know it's tougher for you than you let on but we need to think before we do something."
He nodded.
Leah placed her hands on his shoulders, which made him look up at her. She squeezed them reassuringly and said, "Now we have a lead and we will work on it. But now we need to get back to class, and we will go search Sarah's room tonight after your practice."
"Will your parents let you do that?" He asked. "I mean, your mom isn't home and your dad doesn't seem to like me much."
"No father like boys around their daughters. Don't worry about it."
He nodded again, finally a smile on his face.

Natalie Blake stared at the freak perched on the bleachers, reading through her phone. How did she become so important? And how did she succeed in getting the best of the men in the whole school?
"I will be right back." She told Kelly as she tied up her hair, making her way to where the brunette sat.
"Babe no, Calum's seem extremely protective of her!" Tiffany, one of her cronies, tried to intervene. But this only angered her even more; why the hell did he care so much about her?
She was going to teach the freak a lesson!
"You are good!" Sarah said as she watched Leah effortlessly do her Chemistry problem.
"Until it's Physics or Mathematics!" Leah sighed. "Then I have to work my ass off to keep my grades up."
It was almost eight and she was still at school. George had called a couple of times saying he would pick her up but she had shooed him away.
Calum was playing in front of him and she knew that she was more than capable of taking care of herself so she was completely fine.
"Hey, you!" Natalie made her presence known as soon as she closed in on her, with Tiffany in tow.
"What is it?" Sarah rolled her eyes but Leah didn't give any other reaction but to look for a brief moment before looking down at her book.
"You think that you are all that just because you managed to trap the star quarterback, don't you?" She sneered.
Leah rolled her eyes and spoke, "Oh I don't know Natalie. From the way you speak, it seem like it's you who is giving me more importance than necessary and thinking that I am all that just because I am dating Calum."
Natalie looked like she had been slapped in the face. She was angered and humiliated by the fact that the girl who lay at her feet just a week ago was now standing up to her and showing her fangs.
"I see that you still call Cal Calum." She tried, in a last attempt. "Maybe you both aren't as close as you make it out to be."
Leah rolled her eyes at the pathetic statement that the head cheerleader made. "I don't do nicknames, Natalie. You shouldn't either considering Nat rhymed with a door mat. But anyway, I think you guys should run along because I need to finish my work so that Calum and I can do couple of things in peace afterward." Leah threw in a wink at the end for good measure.
Natalie was furious with this conversation and she wanted to get back at her for stealing her man and humiliating her, but she really didn't know what she was meant to do about Leah Wayne. She knew absolutely nothing about her.
Natalie decided it was her next mission; to find dirt about Leah Wayne.

Sarah, Leah and Calum sat in a circle on the floor of Sarah's bedroom, trying to figure out what the passcode to her phone could be.
"Can I go back?" Sarah said. She was bored out of her wits. "We will try this route after we regain my memory?"
Leah nodded, her eyes darting to Calum who looked at the phone as if willing it to unlock by itself.
"Byee..." She hummed and disappeared. Calum instantly looked up. "She's gone?"
Leah nodded and yawned. "Can you drop me back home?"
"Any information on Eric Flynn?" He asked hopefully.
Leah shook her head. Paul and Sarah followed Kelly around the whole day but got nothing, except that Max and she fought over the topic in the evening before practice and aren't exactly on talking terms. That relationship was going to be as short-lived as Calum predicted it to be.
"We need to find him." He stated.
"I think Kelly will tell you if you just ask her." Leah said. Kelly was horrible to her but whatever happened, she still was friends with Sarah for most of her life so she would still have some lingering feelings towards her, and if not for anything else, Kelly would spill the details just to get rid of the guilt she felt for cheating the girl she claimed to be her best friend since kindergarten.
"Yeah, I have been thinking of asking her myself."
"Okay." Leah got to her feet. "Will you drop me off or should I book a cab?" She asked again, not having received the answer the last time she asked the same question.
Calum sighed and looked up at her. "I am sorry for asking you this but can you take a cab? I am dead tired after the practice and stuff."
He looked guilty and ready to take her home if she wanted him to but Leah understood and hence, she nodded, giving him a sweet smile, one that knocked the breath out of him and made him want to instantly jump to his feet and take her home. "That's alright. I need to make a few stops at some stores on the way anyway. See you at school tomorrow."
"I will pick you up in the morning." He quickly said. He was going to make it a daily thing starting now, and he had already decided that their friendship will go on even after the end of the investigation they had thrown themselves into. He was positive that with her help, he will be able to find the murderer of her sister and he was sure they will be very close by the end of it.
Leah nodded and waved him goodbye before making her way downstairs, calling the cab as she did.
They had one big house but it lacked anything homey. The house lacked comfort and life.
Leah shook her head. It really wasn't her business. She just wanted to go home, crawl into her bed and watch some movie on her day because it was one of those weekdays where there was no homework.
"Hey, girl!!" The driver cooed as soon as she got into her cab.
An involuntary smile made its way to her face; he was one happy cab driver.
"Isn't this that politician's place? Robinson Foster?" He asked as he pulled off.
"Yeah." She smiled.
"He got a son, right? Star quarterback Calum. Such a cutie!" He squealed the last part, making her laugh.
"Who also happens to be my boyfriend!" She said. It was a lie; he was a pretend boyfriend but it didn't matter. It was fun.
"Oops!" He laughed out loud. "I am backing off. I am not interested in committed men, though give me a call if you guys ever break things off." He winked at the end making her laugh too.
They fell into a peaceful silence afterward and a peaceful, sweet, and content smile settled down on Leah's features.
She had never talked to a total stranger before; forget about joking around. She was changing and she pretend boyfriend was the reason behind it.
She was becoming more available emotionally and socially, and she was slowly untangling herself from the withdrawal vessels felt towards the living world.
All anyone ever needed was the right person in their life to make everything right.
Her phone buzzed. She looked down to see that it was a message from the golden boy, Calum Foster himself, asking her to text or call him as soon as she got home.
She shook her head, a chuckle escaping her lips.
The driver swore, "f**k!"
Leah looked up as two big blinding circles came her way. "Girl, jump!!" All she remembered was her seatbelt being unfastened while her own hands went to the door handle and opened it, throwing herself out at the same instant as the huge truck hit the car. The impact had her thrown over to an electric pole that broke her arm.
As blood clouded her vision, and everything became blurry, she heard the sound of an explosion and the smell of gasoline burning.
