_____________________________ . . . "OMG OMG OMG, did you know Paul was a star swimmer in his days?" Sarah squealed as Leah lowered the edge of her hood down till it touched the rim of the semi reflective glasses she was sporting today. She hoped that it was enough for people to not see the swirling light. This was going to be a problem in class. Maybe she should give Sarah's powers back? NO! She should mix her duty and life and mess up. She could make up some weird excuse for class. It wasn't like the teachers paid attention to her anyway. She was always at the very back of the classes, her head always down. They were happy with her grades and they found her weird so they never asked her to do anything and as for group assignments, she was lucky to have people who hated her so much that they themselves came forward to say that they didn't need her help and they will put her name in the end and they always did. And her lab partners always joined their friends so she did all those alone. Her life was convenient enough though it looked weird and sad from another person's point of view. "Yeah, I know." Leah muttered as she walked lazily to her first class, Physics. "Along with being star quarterback back in the days." "He was in the state team! I mean, that is so cool!! Though he is supposed to be like forty now if he was alive. Can you believe that?" Her voice was very squeaky and very annoying. "Yes, I can." Leah looked down on her shoes as she spoke, and gradually bumped into someone. She looked up to realize it was Natalie Blake, along with Kelly Nelson and many other cronies of hers. She quickly looked down; she could not afford to have them see the light in her eyes. So much for standing up to them. "Who are these losers?" Sarah asked. Leah wanted to answer that they were her so called friends, her best friend being the b***h who her boyfriend – ex-boyfriend- was cheating on her with. She guessed he was officially single now. "Heard you were a b***h to Kelly yesterday." Natalie spoke, taking a step forward in her ten-inch heels. "Apparently you grew a tongue." "Actually, she bought it on sss. You should get a brain from there as well. They have put up a sale!" Sarah spoke on her behalf which had Leah letting out a chuckle. "Something funny freak?" Natalie was annoyed at the audacity of the little weirdo to laugh at what she thought was her statement. "Other than your sad existence? Nope." Sarah spoke again, hands folded across her chest and being the badass b***h and queen bee of the school that she was. "You are going to get me killed." Leah muttered as she chuckled, covering it with coughs. "I see you have grown a spine as well – laughing at me like that." Natalie grabbed her hood. Uh oh. She was about to yank it off of her head but was stopped by something or someone. Leah didn't dare look up. "Ooh we have a knight in shining armor, a hot one at that!" Sarah exclaimed, leaning a bit closer to her new friend. "Who also happens to be my brother, at least according to some pictures on the bulletin and Paul." "What do you think you are doing?" It was Calum Foster without a doubt. "Cal, good thing you are. Do you have any idea what this b***h did yesterday?" Natalie's voice changed from bad ass b***h to squeaky squirrel within a nanosecond. "Don't know and don't care. Now if you will excuse us..." He grabbed Leah's arm and dragged her out of the scene, leaving everyone at sight gaping and shocked. What. Just. Happened? . . . They were back at the rooftop. "I have class. What the hell?" Leah was beyond mad. "Other than me saving your ass, nothing." Calum replied. "Ahh,, now I see where she gets it from." Leah raised a brow and Calum knew instantly she was talking about his younger sister. His dead younger sister. His eyes welled up with tears. "Is she here?" He whimpered, wiping away his tears with the sleeve of his t-shirt. Leah nodded, her features softening when she realized what she had done. She knew the pain of losing a sibling and they both saw somewhat the same last sight of them so she knew just how traumatized he was. At least she had her brother with her to this day. He didn't. but he knew she was here, so not being able to see her though she was so close to him might have been even more agonizing. "Tell him not to cry and that I am not leaving his pathetic ass alone for a long time." Sarah looked emotional too. Though he was not in her memory, the relation was strong enough to make her feel despite the lack of memories. "You know that doesn't work that way." Leah sighed as Calum looked up at her, realizing she was actually talking to his sister's ghost. "She is telling you not to cry and that you aren't getting rid of her anytime soon." He nodded, chuckling, as more and more tears sprang out of his eyes. "I know! She is one stubborn pain in the ass!" Leah really felt like she was intruding on a family moment then but what else could she do but stand there awkwardly. "So how's the investigation going?" She asked, trying to divert the topic because she was feeling extremely uncomfortable in the situation. He looked up, his sadness morphing into anger, regret and guilt. Sarah and Leah looked at each other before looking back at him, both faces questioning. "What?" Sarah asked. "What's going on?" Leah asked. "They concluded it as suicide." Both the girls turned to the door while Calum looked at Leah confused. "What do you mean it was concluded as suicide? You said I didn't suicide. That I was killed!" Sarah screamed, the dark aura seeping out of her. Leah took a step back and Calum also felt the shift in the environment, that made him shudder. "Is she angry?" He asked, still not able to believe that all of this was real. "Oh, she is furious." Leah stated, taking her contacts off and looking at her new friend. "Sarah, look into my eyes." Sarah turned, the dark aura vanishing as soon as her eyes came in contact with hers. "I promise you; your murderer will be punished. I will find him and I will make sure he gets what he deserves." Sarah was calm at once. "You promise?" "It's the deal I make with you. I, Leah Wayne, seventeenth generation vessel and twelfth generation exorcist, granddaughter of Samuel Wayne promise to find your murderer but in return, you must not use your power against humans or possess them. Do we have a deal?" Without skipping a beat, Sarah said, "Yes, we do!" . . . _____________________
