_______________________________ . . . "Are you sure you are reading it right?" Michael asked as he squinted at the page, as if that would magically make the words legible. "Yep." She sighed as she stared at the physics problem as if the answer would magically appear. "I am failing!" She finally banged her book shut. "I wasn't paying attention in class these past few days and I have no idea what is going on!" "I thought you said you will always try to balance both your studies and duties." Michael exhaled and closed his grandfather's book as well, knowing very well that there was no way he could decipher whatever ancient scripture was written on it. "I said I will try." She emphasized as she fumbled around on her bed, trying to find her can of Pringles from among all the books, papers, clothes and who knows what else were scattered on the bed. "Lee..." Michael sighed and was about to begin his sermon when their mother called. "LEE!! Calum's here!" The siblings looked at each other. "I thought he coming later!" Michael said as Leah jumped off the bed. "He was supposed to." She smacked her head, looking at the mess that was her room. Then she shrugged. "Meh, it's not like he is going to come up on Mom's watch." She put on her contacts and quickly combed her hair before skipping out the door, closing it behind her. Michael stayed back, using his powers to retrieve her phone so that he could go through memes. Leah made her way downstairs, narrowing her eyes at the seventeen-year-old in a black tee and white tennis shorts. "Why are you here so early in the morning?" "Leah!" Linda gave her daughter the tone of disapproval and turned to the guest, "I am so sorry Calum darling-" Leah cringed when she heard her mother's choice of endearment. "- You know how asocial and awkward Leah is." "I know Mrs. Wayne." Calum smiled, flashing Leah a cryptic smirk. "I know how she can be." "Call me Linda and thank god you know. I was worried she will lose the one friend she made because of her sharp tongue." Leah rolled her eyes as their stupid conversation went on. "You guys have fun. I am going out to run some errands." Leah's eyes widened. "Wait, but Dad's not back from Uncle Dennis' yet!" She pointed out. Linda raised her brow. "What does that have to do with me doing my work?" "You are going to leave me alone with some completely random person?" Leah found he mother unbelievable. While most kids her age would love to have parents like that, Leah being Leah was not really happy with the idea. And it was probably that very reason that had the universe conspiring to get her parents who acted the exact opposite way from what she wanted them to. "Leah!" Calum clutched his chest, pretending to look hurt. Linda looked over at him and chuckled. "Alright boy, that was a bit extra!" Calum looked over at Leah's mother and flashed a goofy grin which had the two laughing again. Leah rolled her eyes. "Alright mom, we will be in my bedroom. I hope that's fine with you.." She said slyly, thinking that her mother definitely wasn't going to agree to that. "Oh sure." She just grinned. "See you too later." And she walked out of the living room while Leah just stood there wide eyed. "You are going to hear from Dad about this!" She called after her, which had the older woman stop, turn around and smile a bit too sweetly. "Honey, I am the queen of this house." . . . Calum pursed his lips as he saw the condition that the room was in. It was so bad that it made his room look like a presidential suite. "Were you practicing some hurricane power here?" He asked, though the very question had him thinking that it was an unlikely possibility when it came to her. For all he knew, she could have figured out some other power she could harness from the dusty undecipherable book they had found in the dungeons at her grandmother's place. He honestly thought that the ability to read whatever was written on that book was a super power of its own. Leah gave him a flat look and turned to the bed, where her brother lay with the phone on his chest. Calum hadn't noticed the suspended phone among all the mess. Leah smirked and so did Michael. "What do you mean?" She asked, grabbing his arm so that he would look at her. "You know what I mean. This-" Calum looked over again, instantly pausing, his eyes widening. The room was literally sparkling clean, with everything in place, the bed made, the books on the table arranged size-wise. He looked back at her and then at the door. "You have this sort of power too?" He raised his brow, pointing at the room even though his eyes were still on her. She smirked. "I wasn't harnessing hurricane powers. I am doing manipulation." She laughed. "I can manipulate you into seeing things." He visibly gulped. "He really wouldn't put it past her." Leah couldn't control her laughter as it bubbled up in her chest. "Oh god, look at your face!!" Calum groaned. She got him every single time. He was about to complain when he paused and asked, "But how did it clean up so quickly?" "Michael!" Leah exclaimed, shrugging. Wasn't it obvious to the stupid person? "Wait, he can do that?" "A ghost can do a lot of things." Michael said. She smiled and looked at the empty bed before relaying the words to Calum. Calum too followed her gaze and that's when his eyes fell on the phone floating in the air. He took a step back, his eyes wide. "You know, I would think you would take this a little bit better since you already know about all of this." She sighed as she sat down on the bed, watching the changes in his expressions carefully. "But then again, I guess I can't blame you since you have never seen them do all these stuffs before." Calum took deep breaths, his eyes still on the phone. Leah rolled her eyes and snatched it from the brother who instantly sat up on the bed, protesting, "Hey, I was watching something!" "It's my phone Mike." "You are an ass." "Yeah, I have one to kill for, I know. No need to remind me." She flipped her hair making Michael fake gag. "Alright, you too boring teens do what you do. I am going to disappear into the wind for a while." "Have fun!" She waved and her brother dissipated as if he was vapor. "He is gone. So, chill!" She turned to the i***t look dumbfoundedly at her and the air column she was conversing with. Calum blinked and then stared at her for a few moments before shuddering and sitting down on the bed next to her. "God, my life has become so freaky after meeting you!" "LOL!" She chuckled and then went to her newly arranged books, knocking a few books onto the floor in the process of getting her journal. "Keep that up and your room will be back to looking like a pigsty within an hour." He commented as she dropped the book on the space between them and plopped down on it. "My record time is three minutes!" She chuckled as she got to the page where all the stuff and plans, she had formulated was on, except the little side plan she had. Calum chuckled as he took the book from her, reading through the great plan she and her brother had formulated over the weekend. Leah knew that Calum and Sarah had the same circle but the fact remained there will always be things about Sarah that he did not know about, and since Calum had decided that Leah will be part of his social circle now, those secrets of Sarah were what she had to dig out. And Calum had to get the list of all the people who could have potentially harmed her, who held a grudge against her or whom she had got in trouble with in the past few months. And he also had to look through her belongings though it seemed like the wrong thing to do. So, in the end they decided that Leah was going over to Calum's space and look through Sarah's stuff with Sarah there so that she doesn't feel like her privacy had been invaded. Not that the ghost Sarah really cared about any of that. "Her room has been untouched since her death." Calum sighed as he closed the book, making a mental note of the objectives he had this week. "What do you mean?" Leah was confused and suspicious. "The police would have turned the place upside down right? There's no way things could be the same." Calum looked over at her raised his eye brow. "They didn't. I went and looked for a note or something but the cops never touched the room." "They ruled her death as a suicide but did not investigate her room for a suicide note or plausible reason or anything?" . . . ____________________________
