The archive door closed behind him without a sound. Mira did not turn immediately, but she knew who had entered. She felt his presence before she heard his steps. The bond between them had not weakened, even after everything that had happened in the hall.
Ryker moved forward slowly. “You should not be here,” he said.
His voice remained low, but it carried through the restricted section with quiet authority.
Mira kept her gaze on the open record in front of her.“I could say the same to you,” she replied.
Ryker stopped a few steps away from the table. “This place is under guard,” he said.
Mira turned then. Her eyes met his. “The guards are watching the front,” she answered.
Ryker’s expression tightened slightly. “That does not change the fact that you are not allowed inside.”
