Chapter 15: Sofia's POV

I watch my pack all lunge forward at the same time, a well rehearsed movement, and in an instant they have ripped the master vampire to shreds, using Sam’s distraction to their advantage. But it’s already too late… I look down at Sam’s lifeless body, his neck snapped, his back cracked. The master vampire has paid for his trespass, but we lost a life in the process.

Tears sting my eyes as I shift back into human form, ignoring the other, weaker vampires. I know my pack will handle them. I can feel Alexis’ hand on my arm, I can feel her body shaking in fear. I pull her close, hugging her tight against me as I stare in horror at Sam’s body.

“May you hunt eternally in the moon’s embrace…” I whisper weakly, laying a hand on his flank.

My mate’s broken voice drags my attention away from my lost beta. “Sofia… I… I am so sorry…”

I shake my head and kiss her forehead softly. “No… You didn’t do this to him…”

I can feel her uncertainty at that, and it breaks my heart knowing she blames herself.

It’s another moment longer before the pack has rejoined us, some in their wolf forms, some in their human forms. One face draws my attention immediately. Kyra stares down at the broken body of her mate, tears streaming wordlessly down her cheeks.

Alexis sees this too, and it seems to make something in her snap. She looks to Max, eyes burning with fury. “Max… Get him back home. Set his bones… We’re not losing anyone today” I hear her growl out.

I lean back, surprised. “Alexis? What do you mean?”

She looks at me, fire quite literally flaring behind her eyes. “It’s time we paid my Father a visit.” I must have a confused look on my face because she elaborates a moment later. “We’re going to Hell.”

Author's Notes: Hello everyone! This is the end of Part 1 of Werewolf Assassins! Thank you all for your support in this endeavor, and I apologize for being MIA for so long. School is just now finishing up for the semester, so I expect I'll be posting more frequently. With all that's going on with the virus, I know we're all looking for ways to stay sane, and I plan to try and offer my stories in that. I also expect to be starting another story here soon, more fantasy than romance, based in a Dungeons and Dragons world  I have created. If you're interested, keep an eye out for "Sky Full of Stars"! Also, if you want to read part two of Werewolf Assassins, please let me know and I shall attempt to begin writing it! I know I've gotten a lot of people who read this book and liked it, but not many comments. Tell me what you thought, and I'll consider beginning part 2 earlier than not having a plan.
