“When do you think she will wake up?”
“I’m not sure. We still don’t understand what is happening to her.”
I could hear them talking but I was having issues opening my eyes. Slowly they opened and I looked around to see Declan’s parents and sisters sitting across the room.
“What happened?” I whispered.
“You’re awake!” Ciara said, rushing to my side.
“Hey Sweetie, do you remember what happened?” Ava asked.
Everything came flooding back.
“I..I forgot to take my medicine.”
Ava looked over to Declan’s Dad, Conner and back to me. “What medicine honey?”
“I have a rare blood disease just like my father and I have to take medicine to keep it under control. It’s in my makeup bag in the bathroom.”
“I will get it.” Fiona said quickly, standing and rushing out of the room.
The door didn’t have a chance to close before a very tall, slender man walked into the room.
“Hi Harper. I am Doctor Golden.”
“Hi Doctor Golden.”
“You gave us quite the scare.”
“Sorry.” I said, looking down.
“Doctor Golden. She says she has a blood disease that requires medicine.” Ava explained for me.
“Harper, tell me more about this disease.”
At that moment, I realized I didn’t really know much about it. “I don’t really remember hearing the Doctor and my mom talking. I just know that my mother said if I didn’t take my medicine my disease would kill me.”
“That’s ok Harper. We will figure it out.” Ava said, holding my hand.
“As soon as Fiona gets back with the medicine I will figure out what’s going on. Until then, I would like to take a blood sample.”
I nodded as a nurse came in and took a couple of vials of blood.
When she was finished, Fiona showed up with my medicine and my cell phone.
“Harper, I would like to analyze this and your blood before you take anymore.” Doctor Golden said, taking the bottle from Fiona.
I knew I didn’t have a choice, so I nodded as he left the room.
“Don’t worry, Doctor Golden is the best,” Ciara said as she made her way back to my side.
“Until then, dinner is on its way and, my lovely twins, you need to head over and see Finn.” Conner said, looking at Ciara and Fiona.
“Feel better soon.” Fiona said as she and Ciara walked out.
Dinner was served quickly and I realized I was so hungry. I had been asleep all day.
After eating, Ava and Conner left me to rest. Doctor Golden wanted to keep me until he had the results of my blood test. I grabbed my phone from the stand next to the bed.
Opening my phone, I expected to see a message from Declan but no calls and no messages. Maybe somebody told him and he decided to just let me rest.
I tried not to think about it and closed my eyes. I was so tired and I still didn’t feel good. I allowed sleep to take over.
Conner’s POV
“Alpha?”
“Come in, Doc.” I said, leaning back in my chair.
“Alpha, I ran Harper’s blood and she has no trace of any blood disease. She is extremely healthy actually.”
“Then what is she taking? And why did she pass out?”
“I don’t know. I have never seen any medicine like this before.I want to monitor her for a few days.”
“That might be a good idea. If she is my son’s mate, we owe it to her to find out what is going on.”
Harper’s POV
I woke the next morning to my breakfast being delivered. I again felt like I was starving and devoured my breakfast.
“Good Morning Harper. How are you feeling?” Doctor Golden asked as he walked toward my bed.
“ OK but I still feel sick. Can I please have my medicine?”
“Harper, you don’t have any blood disease. In fact, you are in perfect health.”
“That can’t be the truth. My medicine must be working. I need it back please. My Mom said..”
He looked at me with sad eyes.
“Do you know what kind of medicine this is?” He asked as he handed the bottle.
“No.”
“You don’t have many left. How will you have it refilled?”
“My……” I didn’t know. Usually my Mom handles this but I have no idea how to refill it now.
“Can you refill this?”
“Harper, I have no idea what you have been taking.”
This is a doctor in the middle of nowhere. I just need to get back home and have it refilled.
The Doctor left and picked up my phone to still have no message from Declan. Last time I waited for him but this time I wasn’t waiting.
Pressing call I waited and waited. Just as I thought I would get his voicemail, the line picked up.
“Harper?”
