I quickly looked from Finn to Declan.
“Yes, we are fraternal twins.” Declan said, smiling at me. For some reason, I couldn’t look away from Declan. His smile was making my heart beat faster.
“Sorry to interrupt but I really need to steal Dec away.” Finn said, bringing me back to reality.
“I just got home.” Declan grumbled.
“Don’t worry Brother. Fiona and I want to take Harper shopping for the Christmas Eve party tomorrow night,” Ciara said.
Declan looked over at me with concern on his face.
“Don’t worry, I will be fine.” I assured him.
“ OK if you are sure.”
I nodded yes and watched as he followed Finn out the backdoor.
“Let’s go!” Ciara said, jumping up from the table and pulling me by my hand.
Before I knew it, we were climbing into a large black SUV. Once inside, I was introduced to Fiona. Ciara and Fiona were also twins but identical, unlike Declan and Finn. I found it odd that they had two sets of twins but chose not to ask.
We spent the next 4 hours at the mall. My feet hurt and I was exhausted, but I still hadn’t found a dress that the twins liked.
We walked into yet another store. As soon as we walked, my eyes fell on the perfect dress. I was navy blue with long sleeves. Snagging the dress, I hurried to the dressing room, praying it looked as good on me as the hanger.
Pulling it on the dress stopped just above my knee and it was tight. The sleeves were long but the dress itself left my shoulders exposed. On the right side were silver flowers that were only visible when the light hit it the right way.
This dress was meant for me.
“Come on, let us see!” Fiona chirped from the other side of the door.
“Yeah, that dress looked hot!” Ciara chimed in.
I stepped out of the dressing room and they both stood and started at me silently.
“Is it bad?” I whispered, looking down. I thought I looked amazing, but maybe I was wrong.
“Bad? BAD? You look amazing.” Ciara almost yelled.
“Oh yeah, our brother is in trouble,” Fiona said and her Ciara burst out laughing.
“What do you mean?”
“Oh, Harper, when our brother sees you in this outfit he won’t be able to keep his hand off you.”
“He doesn’t look at me that way,” I said, looking down.
“Keep telling yourself that honey.” Ciara said, smiling.
The twins used Declan’s credit card to pay for my dress despite me arguing that I could pay for the dress myself.
We made it back to the house just before dinner. I sat down with the twins and noticed Declan was missing.
“Is Declan coming?” I asked, confused.
Before anybody could answer, the backdoor opened. In walked Declan, followed by a tall, skinny, beautiful woman. She had jet black hair, olive skin, and dark brown eyes.
They sat down and Declan turned and smiled at me.
“Harper, this is my childhood best friend Vivian.”
“Nice to meet you.” I said with a smile.
“Nice to meet you too, Harper.”
“How was shopping?” Declan asked.
“Oh it was fine. I found a dress.”
“NO! She found the dress!” Ciara added.
Declan raised his eyebrows and looked at me again, causing me to blush.
“Good thing I get to see it tomorrow.” He said, winking at me.
The rest of the dinner I listened to the family talk and how Vivian had just returned from Italy. She had been gone for almost 3 years. In the back of my head I couldn’t help but think they made a very attractive couple. She resembled every woman I had seen him bring into the restaurant.
After dinner, Declan headed back to Finn’s house with Vivian following right behind him. He apologized but explained he needed to get things settled before the party tomorrow. I offered to help but he said it was not the same line of business.
I watched a movie with Ciara and Fiona before heading to bed before Declan returned.
The following morning, I woke early and, after a quick shower, I made my way downstairs. Declan and his entire family were sitting at the table for breakfast.
“Good Morning Harper. I am so sorry I was not able to spend much time with you yesterday.” He said, giving me his best smile.
“It’s OK Fiona and Ciara kept me busy.”
“I promise I will make it up to you. There is a waterfall I would love to show you. It’s frozen over now but it’s amazing.”
“I would love that.” I said, blushing a bit.
After breakfast, we helped get the house ready for the Christmas Eve party. Around 3, I was pulled away by Fiona and Ciara to get ready. Fiona curled my hair while Ciara applied makeup.
Shocked! I stared at myself in the mirror. I didn’t recognize myself. I truly felt beautiful.
I followed the girls down the stairs to hear the party already in full swing. However, it felt like everything stopped when my eyes found Declan’s. His eyes appeared to turn black but I’m sure it was light.
“You look beautiful Harper.” His eyes roaming my body from head to toe.
“Thank you.” Was all I could mumble, knowing my cheeks were red and burning.
Declan took my hand and began to walk me around the room, introducing me to family and friends.
After dinner, we started making rounds again. We finally stopped and had a moment to ourselves.
“Are you having a good time?”
“Yeah, everybody is so nice and I can’t remember the last time I laughed this much.”
“Good. You really do look amazing tonight.” He said with his hand on my cheek.
“Hey you two! Look up.” Ciara yelled.
We glanced up to find we were directly under the mistletoe.
