My hands felt a little sweaty as I waited in line for my name to be called. I heard the names before me being called out and the cheers from the other kids' family members. I couldn’t help but feel a little sad since I didn’t have a family that would be cheering for me. But I did have Declan and at least I had somebody.
What was I saying? He was my family and he was all the family I needed.
I had been so absorbed in my own thoughts that I didn’t hear my name being called until the person behind me gave me a little push. As I stepped out onto the stage and the moment I came into view, I heard a loud eruption of cheering from the audience.
