I didn't understand the need to bring in more kids. At this point, my mother was a beacon for lost souls. I didn't mind it at first but with all of our problems lately, I can't understand why she would bring another person into this house. Especially, one so-.
"What's with you," Derek said. "I know she is freaky but she's hot too."
"Shut up Derek," I snapped at him. "She looks different. Those freaky eyes of hers."
"Hey, are you talking about Serenity," Max came in interrupting us.
"She's nice," Olivia joined in.
"She has red devil eyes," I pointed out.
"STOP!" Olivia demanded. I knew she would get scared at my remark.
"They are probably that color in the light," Max tried to explain.
"They are red," Derek said.
"She is a stranger and we don't need her here adding to our mess and our problems," I told all of them. I wasn't the oldest technically. Derek was three months older than me but since I was the only biologically child of our mother they took to me as the oldest and leader of our sibling group.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and out came Serenity.
"s**t," I said out loud not really meaning too. She really was hot. Long slender legs and long ash brown hair. Her eyes weren't that freaky to look at either. They were subtle and unique. Her almond-shaped eyes and long eyelashes just added to her appeal. She was so reserved. I had only spent a few minutes in the room with her but she was cold or aloof. I bet she didn't let many people in or maybe she was just very worried about her sister. Then I rolled my eyes at the thought. "If she finds her sister that is another mouth to feed in this already packed house.

I had been staying with Janet and her family for about a week now. Apparently, time is recorded here. I didn't understand why. What did it matter if it was documented or not? It was always going to pass no matter what. Janet's younger children were nice and very talkative. Derek and Chris however avoided me and didn't like to speak to me. I never minded being hated or avoided but this wasn't out of fear they just didn't like me for some reason. I tried to blend in but it was hard knowing that people from Earth have no idea about what is really out there in the universe. I couldn't imagine using my powers around them. I tried to leave and go search for Selene but Janet was reluctant to let me out of the house without her. I knew I could take care of myself but how was I going to convince her. I decided to sneak out tonight and go look for Selene. I had waited for everyone to go to sleep and then decided to go out of the window. It was only a two-story house so I knew it would be easy to use my air spirit to float down gently. I looked around and saw no one around so I headed up the street to see if I could remember where it was that we crashed.
"Damn it," I shouted. I had no idea where to go and I couldn't find any connection or link to Selene.
"Come on Selene, give me something," I sighed. "Are you okay? Please be okay." I walked some more until I felt the wind shift. It was getting cold. I was only wearing some small shorts with smiley faces on them and a white shirt. I felt so out of sorts in these clothes but they were given to me by Janet and I knew she was trying to be nice and helpful. I heard some low whispers coming from the bushes so I went over to check it out.
"Why are you here," I asked the two boys hiding in the bushes.
"Why are you sneaking out," Chris replied.
"Excuse me," I answered. "I need to find my sister."
"Janet said she would go with you," Derek interjected.
"This doesn't concern you or her," I said coldly.
"You are a guest," Chris said defensively. "She took you in and is taking care of you."
"I am grateful but I need to find my sister," I told him.
"We can help you," Derek added.
"Why this is not your problem," I told him. "I do not want to be a bother."
"We are already out so might as well help," Derek said. "Have you ever visited this town before." I shook my head no and looked around again.
"I thought I would be able to feel her," I said honestly but the boys just looked at me confused by what I meant.
"So, east or west?" Chris asked. I didn't know where to head but Derek turned me and so we headed east.

I have been running and running since the crash. I didn't know where I was and I didn't know where Serenity was. I was scared and wanted my sister to come and find me. I slept on the ground and in parks. I was alone and cold. I had to hide when the sun came up. I was too afraid to let anyone see me and start to ask me questions. I know I didn't look from around here and the people I noticed out and about didn't look friendly. I really just wanted my sister. I wondered about going back to the crash site and waiting to see if she showed up there but I couldn't really remember how to get there. As I laid down to sleep on this bench in the park I thought about how this was all my fault. I was the reason we were in this mess and I thought about what might happen if we never were to go back home. I ruined our lives and our parents would be worried.
"Serenity, please be safe, and please find me."
