Serenity Pov
We didn't find her that night or the other two nights we went out to look for her. I was so worried about her. I was happy to hear that Derek had asked his mother about where he found me and realized where the crash site was. He had Chris knew how to drive so they would take their mother's car tonight and we would drive there. I was hoping to find clues or some link I could sense to know where she was. Maybe she was there waiting for me. I was anxious all day. The children didn't have school today so they stayed with me. Olivia brought some of her toys and asked me to play with her. She pretended to be the owner of a cafe and would pretend she was pouring tea and coffee into these small plastic cups. Max came over and played with us at one point as Chris, Derek, and Jesse watched and teased us. As soon as night fell, I was grabbed by Derek with Chris at his side. They tippy-toed into the hallway and down the stairs. Then we left the house and went to the car. The rest of the pack was already waiting by on the other side of the car.
"Going somewhere?" Jesse asked. His sly smile gave him away. They all knew what we have been doing all along and they knew our plan for tonight. They wanted to come along. I didn't see an issue with it but Chris demanded they stay home and go back to sleep. Derek didn't care and wanted everyone to stay silent so we could sneak away. I grabbed Olivia's hand and helped her in the car. Derek was going to drive but the minute Max gestured for me to sit in the front seat, Chris took the car keys from Derek and drove.
"So, what are you going to do if we find her," Chris asked me.
"What do you mean?" I genuinely asked.
"Well, where do you live? Will you go back," these were all fair and good questions but I had no idea how to answer them. If I found Selene tonight, would I have a plan on how to get back home? Do I even know what to do next? All I knew is that I needed to find Selene and know she was safe.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out. You guys can stay with us as long as you need," Chris said. And here I thought he wanted me gone. Chris was so cold and distant even with his siblings. He was caring but he never really showed it. He wanted to be looked at as tough and dependable. He was looking after so many children even Derek acts like a child so it must be tough always having to be responsible.
"Thank you, once I find Selene I will look for a way to go back home and then everything will be as it once was," I told him. Chris looked agitated after I said that. I thought that was what he wanted. Chris told me we were fifteen minutes away from the site where they found me. I didn't recognize anything. This wasn't where the crash happened. I remember a vast field and a billboard. It had a man in weird clothing and it was talking about milk. Maybe I was thrown far away from the actual site. I was getting worried that this trip would lead me to nowhere. I would get no clue to how I could find Selene.
"This is it," Chris said as he stopped the car on the side of the road. Derek had brought some flashlights. He handed me one and gave the other to Chris. The kids stayed with him as Chris and I took the lead and walked ahead.
"Do you recognize anything?" Chris said. "How did you end up here anyway."
"Car accident?" Derek asked. I didn't answer their questions. I was busy trying to focus on Selene. I closed my eyes and tried to ask the spirits for help. I opened my eyes and looked around. There was no field or billboard.
"Selene, where are you?" I sighed.
Selene Pov
I didn't want to stay here any longer. I wanted to go home. I decided to go forward with my original plan and head to the crash site. I knew I had little to no memory of where that actually was but I had to try. I know Serenity is looking for me, I just know it. I got up from where I had slept that night and decided to walk. Hopefully, the spirits would lead me to her or at least lead me to the crash site.
I don't know how long I walked but it felt like a lifetime. I was getting tired and angry at myself for not training harder. I bet Serenity had no issue fitting in and staying alive and here I am having difficulty walking. I walked and walked until I saw some familiar sites. This area, I knew I was getting close. I looked for more familiar things and then I saw it. The ship was still wrecked but it was still there. The beacon was still on but it didn't look like anyone responded to it. We are on the other side of the universe. I sat down close next to the ship and closed my eyes.
"I guess all I can do is stay here and wait."
Serenity Pov
"Selene," I whispered. I could feel her. She was scared and worried. She was alone and sad. I needed to find her. I ran. I ran after her thoughts and emotions that were slipping out. I heard Chris and Derek shout out and call out my name but I didn't stop or turn around. I heard the car start and they were coming after me.
"I'm coming, Selene, I can feel you," I cried out. "I'm coming for you."
