Serenity Pov
"Ready," I told my opponent. I knew he would attack me from the left. I have been fighting the same people over and over again in this place. It has become dull and predictable. Everyone enjoys watching a good fight until they are the ones losing. I wasn't even trying to show off. I was just trying to train but it's hard when no one here even measures to your level. I never let it bother me though. It is better to show everyone what I am capable of. One, so they lay off of Selene and two so they know I will be an excellent King one day. Selene never trained against anyone she just watches and practices summoning her spirits. I wonder why she agreed to come here in the first place. I wondered if she felt hopeless or hopeful. She never seemed too worried about it though.
"Go Serenity," I heard Selene chant. I winked at her and used my air spirit to knock my opponent down. I placed my foot on his stomach and declared my victory.
"Anyone else," I asked. No one volunteered so we all dispersed. I grabbed Selene and tucked her arm in mine.
"So, how did it go today?" I asked her.
"I still didn't sense anything," she told me with an added whine.
"Are you even trying," I questioned. "Like, really trying."
"No, I am just sitting in an empty room thinking about food," I rolled my eyes at her.
"Look, if you want to quit we can. We can go tell Master Shin and go home and never come back," I told her.
"You think I should quit, "Selene asked me. Her face looked worried.
"I think you should do what you want to do not what you think others want you to do," I told her honestly. She gave me a small smile and hugged me.
"Alright," I said as I gently pushed her off of me. "I am heading to the spirit shrine."
"Okay," Selene waved me off and I slowly made my way to our spirit shrine. It was a beautiful place inside the temple. It was like the trinity spirit church that was built close to our castle. It is a place to pay your respects and pray to the spirits. I always felt calm and at peace here. My mother said she felt the same way in the trinity spirit church. I guess all Phoenix Kings and future Kings do. As I was about to enter I took a deep breath. The shrine had an amazing golden arch with a veil covering it. The minute I stepped inside I felt the breeze of cold air blow past me. The floor was molten rock and you can feel the fire beneath it. There was water flowing all around the walls of the shrine. I went to kneel in the center of the room.
"I want you to show me my sisters path," I asked the spirits. "Show me something that will help me understand." Nothing happened at first. I know I was asking for something I probably didn't want the answer to. Suddenly, I felt the fire lift from cracks of the molten rocks and circle around me. Then the air in the room circled around me and then the water came from the walls and did the same. I closed my eyes and felt the spirits begin to flow through me. I felt pain and heartache. I felt lost and worried. I couldn't see my mother or fathers. I felt alone and I couldn't breathe. Then I saw someone. They were wrapped by the Phoenix Spirit. It glowed so brightly around them. It wasn't me or my sister. I felt my heart warm and I didn't feel lost anymore. I felt loved and true happiness. I wanted to move closer to that figure. I wanted to be by their side. I was pulled to them.
"NO!" I shouted and was pulled out of my vision. "What was that. I don't need anyone but my sister and I am the next Phoenix King. What the hell was that? I don't need love. I rather every one fears me as they do now. Why was I lost? What's going to happen to me?"
"I wanted answers about my sister," I shouted. "I know you give us answers we need and not the ones we want but why do I need this. All I need is Selene." I think the worst part was I knew something terrible was going to happen to me but what about Selene? It is unheard of someone without a spirit getting a vision in the shrine or church but I need her to try. I need her to be prepared and know what lies ahead for her. I got up and was about to leave.
"It's my life, and I won't let you fate me to something I don't want," I said to the spirits. I can't lie, I was afraid that I might upset the spirits but I don't know why they would show me something like that. For a moment in my vision, I was alone. Why would I ever be alone? All I knew is I would not let anyone take away my birthright. I ran out of the shrine and headed to my chambers. I wanted to take a nap before I went to eat with Selene. I felt like I hadn't slept for days after that vision.
After my nap, I went to go find Selene but I couldn't find her in the dining area.
"Since when is she ever late to eat," I thought. I asked around but no one had seen her. Finally one of the temple masters told me they saw her walking to the training grounds.
"Why in the hell was she going there?" I said to myself. The minute I made it to the training grounds I was able to sense Selene. She wasn't in pain or worried. She was giddy.
"Selene," I called out but she didn't hear me. I soon spotted her and she wasn't alone. Auron was with her. He was a skilled fighter but he was obnoxious and pretentious.
"You know I think you are so beautiful Selene," I heard Auron hideous voice. He held my sister's face and then moved it closer to his. Oh spirits, he is about to kiss Selene.
