**Jade POV**
Elliott dropped my hand as we finally reached his door. I was already overwhelmed by the sheer size of this place. Every inch of it was beautifully decorated, like I’d jumped into a fairy tale and was now inside the book with Prince Charming forever— at least I could only hope it’d be forever.
He turned the small metal knob and the door swung open with a soft and charming creak. He gestured for me to walk ahead of him and I offered him a nervous smile as I walked through.
I couldn’t believe what was in front of me. The ceilings were dark wood and tall coming together in a point at the top. In the center of the back wall was the biggest bed I’ve ever seen in my life piled high with fluffy pillows and dark green linens. A fireplace split the room in half with a large tv screen mounted to the top facing the bed.
“Holy s**t,” I said, spinning around to look at Elliott. This had to be a prank. There was no way this was real. “This is your room?” I asked almost as a rhetorical.
“Our room, love” Elliott answered softly, a small smile playing at the edges of his beautiful lips.
On the other side of the fireplace was a small sitting area with a dark green loveseat and couch. Book shelves lined the walls, framing another large screen tv, this one hooked up to a gaming system that looked a lot like Andrew’s, but that was the only similarity between that room and this one. I took a few steps into the sitting area to find there was a pair of glass French doors leading out to a large balcony, almost the length of the bedroom. It had a table and chairs which all appeared to be made from various sized tree stumps on one end, and on the other end there was what appeared to be an outdoor bed under a canopy with twinkle lights draped over it. Against the wall closer to the table was what looked to be an outdoor bar and a tv set up with a few large, comfy looking chairs and a small couch against the railing of the balcony. There was a small fire pit between the tv and the chairs, which would probably be heavenly on a chilly fall day like this one.
Elliott’s voice came from behind me, closer than I expected. “We can hang out here, or if you’d like a chance to take a hot shower and put on some fresh, comfortable clothes, I can show you the closet and the bathroom and give you a few minutes to yourself to process all this. What sounds like the better option to you?”
Was he really asking me what I wanted to do? What kind of alpha was this guy? “I’m allowed to use your shower?” I asked, instantly regretting it. There was no way he wanted to be burdened with my sob story. I made a mental note to avoid the subject more often so Elliott wasn’t constantly bummed out by my sad past.
“What do you mean, love?” Elliott looked perplexed at the question.
“I’m sorry, old habit. I was never allowed to use the showers inside the house at river bed.” I pinched my nose realizing I’d just done it again. He was going to get so tired of hearing about my old pack. I hoped I didn’t make him mad at me.
“Where did you take your showers?” There was no hint of annoyance or edge in Elliott’s voice, somewhat comforting me that I hadn’t ruined the vibe of our time together.
“There was an outdoor shower area. The girls got to use it in the morning and the men at night.” I mumbled, hoping not to completely turn him off to me. Imagine having a mate that only got to bathe outside. He’d definitely not want to touch me knowing we were given one tiny bar of soap per month. Elliott smelled of expensive cologne and was obviously much more well groomed than I. We were nowhere near equals.
Elliott let out a low, soft growl. I caught myself cowering back, used to the physical consequences of hearing that sound. Elliott immediately noticed he’d startled me and pulled me into an awkward embrace. “I’m so sorry, love. I’m just angry at how you were treated is all. Anyway, that’s not how things work here. No one is forced to shower outside, all pack members have access to warm water and indoor facilities that are up to code and filled with any products they could need in the event they run out of their own or maybe even just forgot to bring them that day. As for you, my mate, my bathroom is your bathroom. Jasper even asked Cleo to stock it with some more girly shampoos and soaps. She picked some of her favorites for you to try, and if you don’t like the ones she picked we’ll go shopping and let you choose for yourself.”
I could feel my heart rate accelerating as I looked deeply into Elliott’s eyes for the first time when he released me from the hug. He was handsome, kind, and thoughtful. How did I get so luck?! Without even thinking about it, I moved closer to him, craning my head up toward him and praying he understood what I was doing. To my relief, he caught on quickly and began to move towards me. I took in a ragged breath, unsure of what to do next. Finally, light as a feather, my lips brushed his.
Sparks ripped through me immediately. Bigger sparks than when I’d hugged or held hands with Elliott. His hands caressed my face and one wrapped around my waist, pulling me into a deeper kiss. He opened his mouth and I felt his tongue lick my lower lip, asking for entry into my mouth. I opened ever so slightly and felt his tongue exploring my mouth as I tried to match his movements, wrapping my arms around his neck. I never wanted this feeling to end. I could see why all the newly mated wolves at river bed refused to leave their rooms for days at a time. I never wanted Elliott to let me go, never wanted our kiss to end, never wanted to be apart from this man again in my life.
Unsure what came over me, I lightly bit his lower lip and Elliott let out a small shiver, pulling away from me with a sense of urgency. “I’m sorry, you’re entirely too good at kissing. If I don’t put some space between us, my wolf will want to mate right this second.” He smiled bashfully and ran a hand through his long silky hair and I felt my core heating up. Goddess, he was so good looking. Astrid let out a sultry growl and I knew she was thinking the exact same thing as Elliott’s wolf. I knew I wasn’t quite ready to mate. Hell, I didn’t know the first thing about mating. So maybe Elliott had a point about taking things slow. Gratefully, I nodded my head, just happy he wouldn’t be pressuring me to be ready for things I didn’t feel quite ready to do.
“BUT LOOK HOW SEXY HE IS!” Astrid whined in my head. “WHY CAN’T WE JUST F*** HIM NOW?”
I had no response for my wolf besides to turn crimson red and thank the goddess he couldn’t see my face yet.
Elliott released everything but my hand from his grasp and I realized I was becoming more aware of the small jolts I felt at even this tame touch. A more curious and brave part of me began to let my mind wander to what it would feel like to be in a more intimate situation. Even though I didn’t know much about what “taking things further” would even look like, I felt things starting to get a little bit wet in between my legs and a butterfly feeling in the pit of my stomach.
“Careful love, I’m already exhausting my own self control without being able to smell your arousal” Elliott winked at me as he led me into the closet behind the wall his bed sat against. I could feel my cheeks getting redder as I realized my more passionate fantasies might not be completely private if he can sense my attraction to him. It was a nice feeling that at least my attraction was reciprocated, I remembered Emma having a crush on one of the other omegas who just didn’t seem interested in her and it was so painful to watch him find his mate and move on. I was thankful no one before my actual mate had caught my eye, I couldn’t imagine the pain I’d feel if I felt the way I did about Elliott and he didn’t return any of these somewhat scary feelings. I knew there was still a possibility he could break my heart, but I found myself trusting him and his intentions toward me more and more as time went on.
The closet was easily almost the size of the bedroom, complete with a couch in the middle for someone to…. I don’t know, maybe sit down and look at their options? Elliott’s side looked reasonably full and what appeared to be my side had a several options I’d never seen before already hanging up. I noticed a shelf with a few compartments that also had a few pairs of sunglasses, jewelry, and hats. The bottom of the closet had a few pairs of shoes various sizes.
“We guessed on your clothing size, but we wanted to make sure we had options for shoes since you only have the one pair that have a few holes in them and it does get pretty cold here. We’ll see which size fits you best and return the rest, and then probably tomorrow we’ll go to the mall for Cleo to help you and Emma shop for the rest of your wardrobe and several more pairs of shoes so you have more options to choose from.” Elliott said as he gathered a few towels from a cabinet in the corner of the closet.
“But I don’t have any money.” I said nervously. I didn’t want to be a burden to Elliott, but I had no hope of paying him back for all of this or going to get even more things.
“Jade,” Elliott said in mock frustration. “When are you going to understand that all my stuff is your stuff now, including my money!”
“Really?”
“Absolutely. We’re mates. We’ll be sharing the rest of our lives together provided you don’t get sick of me,” he joked and I giggled quietly. “And since we’ll be sharing our life, we should be sharing our resources.”
I began to tear up at the kindness of my mate. “But I have nothing to share with you.”
“Believe me, Jade, your existence is enough. I’ve waited my whole life to find you, and here you are. I feel blessed enough just to have you here with me.” Elliott handed me the towels he’d picked up and led me to a door across from the closet. “Bath or shower?”
