11: Rickenbacker Lives to Tell
Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker and Reed Chambers often would discuss new tricks and wiles by which they might hope to circumvent the crafty German. They would sit up late very often and rise very early the next morning to carry into execution some little plan which had enraptured them the night before.
On the morning of May 17, 1918, these two great World War aces were routed out at four o’clock sharp, in accordance with orders Capt. Rickenbacker had given the orderly the night before.
