Alpha Dallas's Pov:
I watched Iris walk into town, feeling a pang of reluctance as she disappeared from view. My wolf growled softly, protesting the distance between us. I'd never felt this way about a human before, but there was something about Iris that drew me in.
As I turned to head back into the woods, I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd just made a mistake. I'd given her my number, told her to call if she needed anything. What if she didn't call? What if she didn't feel the same connection I did?
I pushed the thoughts aside, focusing on the familiar rhythms of the forest. But my mind kept wandering back to Iris - her bright smile, her curious eyes, her sweet scent.
As I walked, I noticed a figure watching me from the shadows. It was my old friend, Ryder, a fellow wolf and one of the few people who knew my true nature.
"Dallas," he said, his voice low and cautious. "What's going on? You've been...different lately."
I hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. But Ryder was one of the few people I trusted. "I met someone," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Ryder's eyes narrowed. "A human?"
I nodded, feeling a surge of defensiveness. "Her name is Iris. She's...special."
Ryder's expression softened. "You're falling for her, aren't you?"
I didn't answer, but Ryder's words struck a chord. Was I falling for Iris? And what did that mean for both of us, given our vastly different worlds?
Iris's Pov:
As I chatted with Emily, I couldn't help but think about Dallas. There was something about him that drew me in, something beyond his rugged good looks and charming smile. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I remembered the way he'd caught me in his arms, the way his eyes had locked onto mine.
"Earth to Iris!" Emily teased, waving her hand in front of my face. "You're a million miles away. What's going on?"
I blushed, feeling a little self-conscious. "Sorry, I'm just...thinking about him, I guess."
Emily grinned. "Dallas, huh? You're definitely intrigued by him. Maybe you should call him, see if he's interested in grabbing coffee or something."
I hesitated, unsure if I should reach out. But something about Dallas's smile and the way he'd looked at me made me feel like he might be interested. I pulled out my phone and sent him a text, trying to sound casual.
"Hey, thanks again for helping me out today. Just wanted to say thanks."
I set my phone down, feeling a little nervous. Would he respond? And what would I say if he did?
As I waited, Emily chatted about her latest project, but my mind kept wandering back to Dallas. What was he doing right now? And would I see him again?
Alpha Dallas's Pov:
I sat in my living room, staring at the text on my phone. Iris had finally reached out, and my wolf was going wild with excitement. I read the message again, feeling a smile spread across my face.
"Hey, thanks again for helping me out today. Just wanted to say thanks."
I typed out a response, trying to play it cool. "No problem, happy to help. How's it going?"
I hit send, feeling a sense of anticipation. Would she respond quickly, or would it take her a while? I set my phone down, but my eyes kept drifting back to it, willing it to buzz with a response.
As I waited, my mind wandered back to Iris. What was she doing right now? Was she thinking about me too? My wolf growled softly, urging me to go to her, to claim her as our own. But I knew that was impossible. At least, not yet.
My phone buzzed, and I snatched it up, my heart racing. Iris's response was brief, but it made my heart skip a beat.
"I'm good, thanks. Just getting settled into town. You live around here, right?"
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. This was it. This was the start of something. I typed out a response, my fingers flying across the screen.
"Yeah, I do. Maybe I can show you around sometime?"
I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I was being too forward. But something about Iris made me feel like I could be myself around her. I hit send, feeling a sense of anticipation.
Iris's Pov:
I stared at Dallas's response, feeling a flutter in my chest. "Maybe I can show you around sometime?" Was he asking me out? I couldn't help but feel a spark of excitement at the prospect.
I typed out a response, trying to play it cool. "That sounds great, actually. I'd love to see more of the area."
As I hit send, I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to spend more time with Dallas. He seemed like a mystery, a puzzle I wanted to solve. And yet, there was something about him that made me feel safe, like he would always be there to catch me if I fell.
I set my phone down, feeling a sense of anticipation. When would I hear from him again? And what would we do if we spent more time together?
As I waited, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was about to change in ways I couldn't even imagine. And Dallas was at the center of it all, an enigmatic figure who seemed to be pulling me in with an invisible thread.
My phone buzzed again, and I snatched it up, my heart racing. Dallas's response was brief, but it made my heart skip a beat.
"How about tomorrow? I can pick you up at 7?"
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement.
Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough.
Alpha Dallas's Pov:
I smiled as I sent the text to Iris, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. Tomorrow couldn't come soon enough. I had planned to take her on a hike to one of my favorite spots, a secluded waterfall that was hidden deep in the woods.
As I waited for her response, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. What if she didn't show up? What if she didn't like me as much as I liked her? My wolf growled softly, sensing my uncertainty. But I pushed the doubts aside, focusing on the thrill of the unknown.
Iris's response came quickly, a simple "Sounds great, see you then" that sent a surge of relief through me. I smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. Tomorrow was going to be a great day.
As I settled in for the night, my mind wandered back to Iris. What would she think of the waterfall? Would she be impressed by its beauty? And what would happen between us, once we were alone in the woods?
My wolf stirred, sensing the possibilities. But I knew I had to be careful. Iris was human, and she didn't know about the supernatural world that existed just beyond the edge of town. I would have to be careful not to reveal too much, not to scare her off.
But as I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't shake the feeling that tomorrow was going to change everything.
Chapter 3
Iris's Pov:
I woke up early the next morning, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Tonight was the night - I was going to see Dallas again, and I had no idea what to expect. We'd been texting nonstop since our plans were set, but there was still something mysterious about him that drew me in.
As I got ready for our date, I couldn't help but wonder what he'd planned. Would we be going to a fancy restaurant, or something more low-key? And what would it be like, spending time with him in a more relaxed setting?
I put on a simple white sundress and sandals, feeling a sense of confidence wash over me. I'd always loved the way the sunlight filtered through the trees in the evening, casting a warm glow over everything. Maybe that's what tonight would be like - warm, and full of possibility.
As I waited for Dallas to arrive, I felt my nerves start to get the better of me. What if we didn't click in person? What if the conversation was awkward? But as soon as I heard the knock at the door, all my doubts disappeared.
Dallas stood on my porch, looking handsome in a faded T-shirt and jeans. He smiled as he saw me, and my heart skipped a beat. "Hey," he said, his voice low and smooth. "You look beautiful."
I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I smiled back at him. "Thanks," I said, feeling a sense of ease wash over me. "You don't look to bad yourself."
