It Was Impossible Not To Fall In Love

Chapter Nine

It's a beautiful Thursday. I woke up in high spirit and just like always I breathed the fresh air from my balcony. I am already dressed ready for work. Yesterday I asked Travis to borrow me his case file and just like I predicted the outcome it turned out just like that. I will help Melody when I come back from Webber Wentzel. Today I don't have lunch with me, it's just fruits, juice and yogurt for me.

It's time for Travis and I to leave for 96 Rivonia Road. That's where WW is. We drive, listening to the radio and make comments to each other on what is being said. There's an accident that occurred on the same drive we took. Thank God we are safe it could have been us.

"Mr Patton we finally get to meet" the guy says as he offers us seats.

"I would have made time for you long ago but knowing what you want I took it upon my PA to decide whether we should meet or not" Travis says looking at me briefly. I smirk cause I know what he means

"I see so this is the beautiful lady that keeps you indoors" he says and Travis chuckles

"Why am I here Josh" He shoots straight to the question. He looks at me and I cross my fingers to the answer

"Umm come on man you know why I asked you" Josh says which caused me to giggle a little

"Why is she laughing at me" Josh asks.

"Because me and her made a bet and now she has to pay me when we get out of here. And I am not taking your client Josh. Deal with her or ride her." Travis says

The thing is we made a bet. He told me that this guy always wants him to take his clients when they are stubborn and I said maybe it's going to be a different case. I lied to myself cause now I have to buy him lunch today, breakfast and lunch again.

By the time we passed the accident scene it was swept out. Nothing showed that there was an accident. We drive to Mugg n Bean for lunch. It's my treat since I am owing him.

"So are you ready for your date tonight" I ask

"No I am not. I don't think I'll be going" he says sipping on his drink. Sexy as f**k!!

"Come on you can't drop it at the last minute. I promise you it's the last one" I say

He agrees to go. Tomorrow's Friday and I am going clubbing with Mel and her friends. Maybe I will find another sexmate. This one in front of me is tempting but I'd never because our working space is going to be awkward.

"We are here Talitha" Travis says disturbing me from my thoughts

"Where is your mind at" He asks

"I am just thinking about tomorrow. I am going out with Melody. I'm gonna get myself something disposable" I say sipping on my drink

He looks at me firmly like he wants to say something but another force is drawing him back.

"Can I tag along?" He asks. Finally I was going to ask him to go clubbing someday and he just made it easy for me. He needs to forget a little about work

I say sure he can. I just don't know how Melody is going to react and also I want us not to cross the line of him being our boss. I mean once people see you outside work they tend to think you are friends even when inside. I respect him in as much as we talk about shady things

Since we got back from Mugg n Bean I've been working. I have to go fetch the file from Travis cause Mel will rock up anytime from now.

Travis has been sitting in his office thinking of good ways to tell Tali about how he feels. She manages to get his blood to boil when she speaks about getting a sexmate. He almost said to her "I don't mind being your toy" but had to hold himself. Brian walks in Travis's office without knocking while he is in deep thoughts. Brian walks to him and waves his hand.

"Dude what's up" Brian asks as he can see he is far

"Argh nothing man. Why you here any way" he asks

"To see my brother. So when are you planning to tell Talitha about.." just then Talitha walks in and asks "Tell me what?"

Damn!!! "Brian better come with something good", Travis thought

"Umhm, that we are going tomorrow" Brian quickly says. s**t!!

"Oh okay are we staying there for more days or just a one day thing" Talitha asks

"Just two days thing Talili" Brian says. Brian is Travis's younger brother, not from same mothers. He is owning the IT department in the company. Talitha only knows him as a friend/colleague to Travis

"I told you to stop calling me that Brian" she says

Travis laughs at them quarreling about who started the name calling first

"Talitha what brings you here" Brian asks

"I am here to fetch a file from my boss Mr IT and am pretty sure you know codes not files" Talitha says causing Travis to laugh more.

"So Mr P my file please before I am erased from this office by just by an F1" Talitha says.

Travis can't stop laughing at how Talitha is hilarious. He knows little of her side but this one she's throwing at Brian he never knew it existed.

"Mxm take your file and leave Talili" Brian says

"Are you really chasing me in my department office? Don't you think Melody needs some coding Mr" Talitha says biting her lower lip in a teasing way.

If the building could collapse by a laugh then definitely Travis's laugh would have made it to. He just can't stop laughing and it's more because Brian is into Melody but she is giving him a tough time so he wonders how Talitha knows. But again Melody works close with her so they could be talking. Talitha finally takes out the file and leaves.

"Dude can you stop laughing before I go tell her about your feelings" Brian says to Travis as he can't stop laughing

"Can you believe that today I am hooked up into yet another date" Travis states

"Just tell her how you feel man and stop this whole thing or else you will regret when she tells you that she found another d**k since you got rid of her last one"

Yep Travis found out who Talitha was sleeping with and he threatened the guy and even made him move to another place as Talitha knew where he stayed and he is also keeping tabs on her. Not precisely following her. It has gotten deep over the past few months.

It's freakenally Friday. I honestly can't wait for knock off time. I am only left with two hours then off the hook. I was worried yesterday when Brian broke the good to NYC news but it turns out they cancelled.

"Babes what are your outfit plans? I am out of ideas and need a hook" Melody says barging in my office. One can never have an office s*x in this company. A simple knock is a problem

"Baby girl don't stress me. I am just going to be in my jeans and tees nothing more." I say.

Why is it that I must have an outfit for going to a club.It's already lunch and today I am eating alone because the boss is out to court. Anita calls

"Baby" I answer

"Hi Nana. You good" she asks with her echoing voice

"Yes am good and how are you"

"I am also good. I wanted to ask you about your Saturday plans. I want to come see you. I miss your day ass." She says

I miss her too but I am not sure about tomorrow cause the possibility might be that I will be having a hang over cause I am planning to get drunk. I need this. Since I last got drunk with my two friends which is months ago. I tell Anita about my plans for today. I know she will still come so I don't stop her.

I am preparing for the night. I am going to wear black jeans, white Adidas T-shirt, Black leather jacket and baby blue Stan Smith sneakers. As soon as I wear the T-shirt I do a touch of makeup with nude pink lipstick. Travis will be here any minute and I am still not fully dressed. He will understand I am a lady. I can keep him waiting but it's rude for him to do the same.

I thought Mel was bringing four people or more but it's just only one, her name is Bella and indeed beautiful with dimples that are just there. Travis invited Brian and Ryan, the one who is in Public Relations.

"Don't you find Bella appealing" I whisper into Travis. His last date was a mess. The girl just wanted money

"She's beautiful but nah she ain't feisty or I'll wait till she gets drunk maybe that side is there" He says sarcastically.

"You too will look good together. She's just down to earth and respectful don't you think" I ask in a whisper

Nothing ever prepared me for what this guy just said. "I think you are my perfect match.

Don't you think". I'll take it's the 3 glasses he drank.

"You too get a room and stop being cosy in front of us some of us are on trial" Brian says. I laugh

"Shut up Brian can't we gossip in peace " Travis says. We all laugh. Gossiping is for girls

The night is still young. We have fun and take 5 shots each person after 15 minutes. There's this guy I'm flirting with. I keep on making eyes and lips gestures to him and he responds. We've been having some stealing glances moments. I stand up and walk to the side leading to the toilets. I am not going to have s*x with him today. Just sparing him for the dry days. We converse by the corner before the toilets. Yeap he followed me. Fast learner.

"I am about to leave are you going with me or he'll drop you off" Travis asks in a cold voice

So he followed me here. Anyway I leave the guy, Adam is his name. I say my goodbyes to Mel and the rest since they are staying. Reason why I wanted to come with my car now I have to just get up and leave because the guy is not having fun.

"Why did we have to leave. Was it boring for you" I ask closing the silence

"Yeah and besides I am tired. I was going to drink a lot who was going to drive" He answer in the cold voice

"I was going g to drive" I say bored of his coldness

"When after having s*x and drinking?" He asks. He only turned once to look at my side

"Wow" that's all that my lips manage to utter. Silence fills the car yet again.

I know it's not my car but I am not going to sit in silence as though I am mourning or meditating. I connect Bluetooth and start playing music. My all time favorite A.H. The song Best Of Me comes up and I sing along

I sing along to the song until the end and find the annoying guard staring at me.

"So says someone who doesn't know how to argg" I say. He is on a mission to ruin my night.

"Do you listen to Brian McKnight" he asks and I nod.

He asks which song I love from his albums and I choose Back At One. I am yet to be hospitalised cause nigga asks me to play it so he can sing. Please pray that I don't become deaf cause it's quarter to. I put in the song

By the time the song ends I am literally mouth hanging. What in the actual f**k!! Wow. This man can sing guys. From today onwards you'll never hear me sing shame. Holy cow!!

"Flies Talitha" He says with a smirk

"What the F. Like how? How come. How did you learn? Who taught you how to sing" I babble. He chuckles

"It's a gift" He says shrugging his shoulders

"Wow okay" I say in total defeat

"So says someone who doesn't know how to sing" He imitates my insult to him. I don't have a comeback.

I realise we are not driving to my place but to his. Eeeer dude I don't have an overnight bag. I ask about his drive and he just says "I am tired I'll drive you in the wee hours if I have to". It's useless arguing cause he made up his mind already. We get to his place and I head straight to the guest bedroom and sleep. His house is beautiful but I'll see all of it tomorrow.
