THE TRUTH HURTS The elevator doors were inches from closing as Mitchell’s face peaked through blocking the light.  A fist slammed against the doors as Ashley remained still returning the lack of emotion that he had just shown her from the card table. She remained alone as the doors closed and the elevator started descending.  Mitch had opportunities to patch things up with her, but he chose to listen to Tim.   Looking down at her envelope peeking out from her purse, she texted Sally, “Feel free to contact Mitchell, the Sheriff and the employee with the ID number I sent earlier.”  Sally replied, “Will do, Mitch deserves better, thank goodness he has you!”  Exiting the elevator, Ashley walked to her truck refusing to look up in case Mitchell was looking down at her.     Locating a smalle
