Chapter 5: The Key of Eternity
Aditya's fingers were only inches away from the glowing Key of Eternity.
Suddenly, a blast of dark energy threw him backward.
The Shadow Keeper stepped into the chamber, his black cloak swirling like smoke.
"You are too late," he said with a cruel smile.
The crystal key rose into the air, pulled by a mysterious force.
"No!" Aditya shouted.
The Guardian of Time rushed into the chamber and slammed his crystal staff onto the floor.
A ring of golden light surrounded the Key of Eternity.
For a moment, it stopped moving.
"The key belongs to the Keeper of Time," the Guardian declared.
The Shadow Keeper laughed.
"Then let the key decide."
The crystal key began to glow brighter than the sun.
A voice echoed through the chamber.
"Only the one with a fearless heart may claim the Key of Eternity."
The room suddenly transformed.
Aditya found himself standing alone in a vast desert beneath a blood-red sky.
A giant mirror appeared before him.
Instead of showing his reflection, it showed his greatest fear—his family disappearing as time itself collapsed.
"Give up," whispered a voice.
"You cannot save everyone."
Aditya closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I may not be perfect," he said, "but I will never stop protecting the people I love."
The mirror shattered into thousands of sparkling pieces.
The desert vanished.
Aditya was back inside the chamber.
The Key of Eternity floated gently into his hands.
Golden energy spread throughout the temple.
The Guardian smiled proudly.
"You have passed the First Trial."
The Shadow Keeper's smile disappeared.
"This isn't over."
He opened a dark portal behind him.
Before leaving, he pointed at Aditya.
"The next time we meet... I won't come alone."
The portal closed.
The temple became silent once again.
The Guardian looked toward the distant horizon.
"Our real journey begins now."
Far away, hidden inside a fortress beyond time, dozens of glowing red eyes slowly opened in the darkness.
The Shadow Keeper had awakened his army.
