Chapter Thirteen The gym was less crowded in the afternoon. Apparently, the serious fitness enthusiasts in Zack’s building preferred to work out earlier in the day. He scanned the room, taking in the numerous cycling machines, the ellipticals and treadmills, and the weight racks in the back. He grinned when he saw Kayla. According to the pink hearts hovering around the room, she was still the highest-level woman in the gym. She was doing crunches on a machine, her forehead glistening with a light sheen of sweat. Seeing her sweat reminded Zack about the lack of smell here. Unlike his high school gym, the condo had state-of-the-art facilities including air circulation, which meant it smelled pretty neutral except for a foresty smell. Maybe pine? Really, Zack had no clue. It was foresty. Z
