200 head of cattle are trotting down a narrow dirt trail. Green pines curl over the pass. The sun is high in the sky; the day feels hot. The cows are marching in a near perfect two by two line. Near the edge of the pass is a steep drop to the bed of a skinny creek. A calf trots treacherously close to the edge. A voice echoes through the pass. “HIYAAA!!!! HIYAAA!!” A spotted blur zips up the line of cattle, a vaquero spurs his hoarse and speeds towards the calf. “HIYAAA!!! C’mon move it!!!” “HIYAAA!!! HIYAAA!!!” The calf quickly made way for the cowboy and got back in formation. The vaquero ran the length of the cattle, skillfully riding on his spotted horse. They ran the edge to the front of the herd. ”Salvador, Vicente!” The older cowboy shouted to two young men on horses.
