The deeper we walked into the forest, the more anxious I became. The trees grew denser the more we moved, and the ground sloped upward after every few metres. The incline was almost perilous, but Alyssa kept at it with little to no effort. She seemed to almost be gliding over the ground, and her feet barely touched the ground as she kept turning around to glance at me over her shoulder.
“We’re nearly there,” she said. “It’s not too far now.”
“This is ridiculous,” I huffed. “Where in God’s name are you taking me exactly?”
“Oh, stop making such a fuss and just come along,” she said. “Since when did you become such a wuss?”
