*** Blood. I could smell it in the air, like a sweet fragrance which drifted in with the wind. It tingled the tip of my tongue, and I felt life flourish in me just at the scent. I had rested for too long. The darkness called to me, and I felt it reaching out to me like the hand of a dear old friend. It welcomed me, and it embraced me as the long-lost partner that I was. Life coursed through my veins for the first time in a long time, and I was finally able to feel the warmth I had so desperately craved for so long. I needed it, and it filled me with a hunger so intense that I didn’t even know what to do with myself. I stumbled through the darkness, not even able to see with my enhanced vision.
