Revenge for My Friend

PART 1 - The Party

Ameya studied B.Tech in Computer science and Communication and Anita did B. Arch from Kochi. After that Ameya did her MBA in San Jose. She was staying with her uncle and aunt who are working in hospital. She went to college with her cousin sister. Ameya was an eye candy for guys in the college. Even her cousin wasn’t that popular. She never had any boyfriend. But she had boys as good friends. Her cousin brother Sujith wasn’t staying with them. He is working as attorney in legal department. After completing her course she worked under her cousin as his assistant for three month till she got job in a reputed firm.

Ameya had to shift to San Francisco for her job. Her uncle helped to find an apartment near her office. She loved her job and soon got hike in her job due to hard work and dedication. After two years she was promoted and transferred to the Mumbai branch of her company. She was so glad that she will be meeting her parents after 4 years. She took one month leave to spend with family before joining Mumbai office.

Anita got campus selection to architectural firm based in Kochi. One year later she applied for Masters in London and completed it.

Anita and Ameya talked and had fun like old times. It was only when they felt hungry they knew it was time for dinner. They came down and saw Radhika had prepared Ameya’s and Anita’s fav dishes for dinner. All of them had dinner and gathered in living room to watch some movie in Netflix. After watching the movie Ameya and Anita went to sleep.

They woke up early in the morning and helped Radhika in Kitchen. “Ma I will be going to Ani’s home will have lunch there.” “Amy you should be back by 2 o’clock because we have to go to Kochi to attend the get together party and they will be awarding you for completing MBA in honours. Ani you should also get ready since you will be coming with us.”

When they reached Anita’s house Susan was busy making Ameya’s favourite pork vindaloo and fish curry. Ameya went and hugged her “Susi aunt love you and missed you a lot especially your non veg dishes. Why didn’t come with me to America. I would have opened a restaurant and showed the whole world what a great chef they have missed.”

“Amy honey missed your baby talks and look how grown up you two are. I think, no, no I am sure it’s time to find suitable guys for you. Next month you will be in Mumbai and Ani will be in Bangalore. It’s true, time has flown a bit faster in your case.” Tears flooded in Susan’s eyes.

Ameya and Anita rolled their eyes when they heard the marriage word from Susan’s mouth. They called Devika and told her to meet them at Anita’s house. Devika reached there within half an hour. They all went upstairs and sat on the floor of the balcony. They felt awkward without Merlyn. Merlyn was the wild horse in the group. She used to date guys when she turned fourteen. But things went South when she committed a huge mistake when she was seventeen. Her parents were ashamed and angry, so they send her to her auntie’s who was in New York. “So Devika tell me about your fiancé. Do you love him or are you agreeing because your parents thought he is suitable and chose him for you?.”

“His name is Vivek. He is working as a QC inspector in Dubai. He is kind and sweet. My parents did a thorough background check and found him a good guy. Hope will find love after marriage. So when are you guys leaving for your jobs.” Anita is working as chief architect in a firm in Bangalore. “I will be leaving on Sunday. Amy will be here till last of this month.”

The party was organised at Le Meridian Hotel, Kochi. Most ex servicemen were present with their family. There was an award ceremony to congratulate the children of ex servicemen who excelled in studies or any other field like dance, music, etc. The chief guests were city mayor and a famous mallu actor. The function was till midnight. There was rooms booked in hotel for them. They were going to theirs rooms when Ameya noticed a guy was watching her in the lobby. He was wearing a business suit and was waiting for someone. She went to her room and slept like a baby. Next morning when she woke up and after doing her morning routine she went to her parents’ room and found that they were already up a ready to have breakfast. She left them and on her way to the room she collided with someone who was in a hurry. When Ameya got up, she saw some guys helping the person whom she had hit. It was the same guy she saw yesterday in the lobby.

When she tried to apologise, he yelled at her “How dare you irresponsible girl hit me like a maniac. Where do you think you’re going to the moon or hell.” She was shocked to see his anger and forget to say anything. She just went to her room and packed her things got ready. When Anita came to her room, she saw Ameya was lost in her thoughts. “Hi dear who are you daydreaming. Did someone special conquer your mind here.” Ameya still didn’t recover from the incident at the corridor. She told Anita the whole incident to which Anita said,”Amy forget him. He is an arrogant guy. Don’t take silly matters so personal.” They reached their home by noon.

Lobby guy’s POV

After finishing the meeting I was waiting for my friends who went to explore the night life of Kochi. It was then I saw her with a memento in her hand. I felt I skipped a heartbeat. My whole body became numb, I never experienced anything like this for years. My phone was ringing and saw it was my friend. “Hello, where are you guys, it’s midnight and don’t you want to miss tomorrow’s flight.” I cut the call and turned around to see that she was not there. Next morning I woke up and got ready to catch my flight, which was scheduled at 11a. m. Me, my friends and bodyguards were in a hurry when someone hit my shoulder and I lost my balance. There stood a girl and she was trying to say something when I yelled at her. It was too late when I found the girl was the one whom I met yesterday. She was stunned and went to her room.
