Chapter Six (Who's the Caller?)

"Oh my gosh!" "Don't tell me you're still in bed," Nina's mum shouted over the phone. 'Mum, this is supposed to be a holiday period, I'm not going to school,' Nina muttered with a rather fatigued voice. 'Will you get up from that bed now!' "It's already past 10.am," Mrs Pedro scolded her daughter. "Ok, her Majesty!" "My beautiful mother, mother to a Princess!" Nina hailed her mum.

"You sure know how to tease me, and get away with all sorts, you silly head," Mrs Pedro, responded jokingly.

Nina sluggishly walked into their kitchen, made a quick meal and set for the dinnnig.

'Gush! I've got an idea, let me invite Alex over,' Nina thought aloud. She quickly placed a call over to Alex but his mum rather received the caller.

"Hello, go on." ' Kate - Jess on the line.' In a jittering voice, "em, em, sorry, I think I dialed the wrong number," Nina quickly dropped the call.

Her heart beat increased, she was embarrassed and afraid. "What have I got myself into? I thought his parents had left for work... God! I hope I've not gotten him into trouble." She felt like the ground should open and swallow her up.

"Anyways, I didn't mention my name, nor his name either." 'She'll probably not think it's me,' she reassured herself.

"I've, lost my appetite, I'll eat later'' Nina, said to herself and covered her food. She went into her room to tidy up and just before she could start, her phone rang.

"Oh my gosh! Alex's calling'' she picked up but waited to hear if he's the one or his mum. ''Hello, my radiant Princess...."

"Hmmm! You almost gave me a heart attack, I thought it was your mum," Nina responded.

"Really? mum doesn't bite anyways".

"Well, she suspected you called earlier on so, she said I should find out why you couldn't speak, Alex said.

"Ah!, I hope she wasn't mad at you?" Nina enquired.

"Mad? Why? Common, mum isn't like that, I'm a teen, she knows I have friends."

" Remember I was brought up in Europe, and I'm not caged dear." 'Besides, I went on an errand for my mum, that's why I didn't pick."

"Girl, enough of mum, can you come over to my place?"

" I'm bored like mad." 'Mum and Dad just left for work,' Alex concluded.

"I'll be there soon, let me tidy up my room," Nina replied.

"Ok, my Princess," Alex teased her and dropped the call.

With a light and gladden heart, Nina Pedro hurried over her chores and finished up in a jiffy.

She went over to the bathroom, spent quality time scrubbing and making sure all dirt was off. With the way she scrubbed, one will think she's a car mechanic who's making sure all grease- stains are off her skin.

Done bathing, she took her time to make her self look so good. She wore her favorite red and white-dotted gown which outlined her curves so well, with red slippers to match. Looking at the mirror, she smiled and said to her self; 'damn! I'm the cutest girl; this gown is giving!'

Having done with looking good, She packed the food she had earlier covered into a basket, locked up her room and set out to visit Alex Jess.
