Married but Single

Chapter Three ( Call it love at first sight)

Call it happiness or excitement. Call it what you wish. Nina couldn't even express how she felt when she first saw Alex. She knew she felt something different. Something she hasn't felt before even when she is in the midst of other kids. Yet, she doesn't know what to call it.

Jess' arrived at Mr Pedro's compound the next day with a Van filled with luggage. They were warmly received by the Pedro's and while the Adults sat in Pedro's living room chatting, Alex was asked to go and offload the luggage and move them into the boys quarters.

"Can I help with the luggage?" Nina asked Alex, who was offloading the luggage they moved in with. "With all pleasure, 'Princess," Alex responded with a rather cynical smile. Nina could notice how beautiful his set of teeth are. She was all blushing with the sound of the word 'Princess'; yet living in denial, to accept that.

"My name is Nina and not Princess", she blurted! "Oh! My bad, I totally forgot, to introduce myself". "But can you blame me? beholding a radiant Princess can make even a moving train loose track." Alex completely ignored her statement of refusing being called a Princess. Nina enjoyed his choice of words though too adamant to admit it. "He is such a humor to be with," Nina thought. "I think I'm liking him already!"

While the Children offloaded the luggage, the Adults were all sitting in Mr Pedro's living room drinking and sharing jokes. Their loud jokes could be heard from afar off.

Nina also helped Alex with setting up his own room. When they were done, they played a game of chess. Then Nina thought it was a good time to go, at least to give the young guy who just landed time to refresh, so she bid him good bye and walked towards the door.

"Just before you go, I want to show you something please...." Alex got up from where he sat, grabbed Nina's hands, pulled her closer to himself and planted a kiss on her forehead. Nina stood transfixed. She was totally taken unaware but enjoyed every bit of it. ''What's this?" She finally summoned courage to say. "Leave me right now or I'll scream". "It's a way of me thanking you for helping me out'', Alex whispered into her ears before letting her go. She hurried off Alex's room, shut the door with a thunderous bang and went over to the main building where the Four Adults were still merry.

''Look 'who we have here!," come over and have some wine, my daughter. Mr Pedro announced Nina's entry with such excitement. "Good afternoon all," Nina responded. "Thank you Dad but I'd rather go to my room cos I'm a bit tired."

" Of course, you should be, you two really did a good job offloading the luggage," her Dad responded.

Nina retired to her room with mixed feelings. Excited on one hand and fearful on the other hand. She laid down, facing the ceiling and filled with thought. ''What is happening to me?'' '' Why do I feel happy and at the same time doomed?" "Oh! those masculine chests!, those soft lips on my forehead!, oh! how I wish it was planted on my lips." She wished for more but yet fears the next. She finally slept off. What a day!
