Chapter Five
Nia's POV
Immediately, I jumped and grabbed my clothes. I couldn't wear them, so I wrapped them around my body. My heart beat loudly, I was almost sure everyone could hear. What was happening?
Broad shoulders. Height as tall as a mountain. Fierce-looking men, clothed in guard clothes, walked into the room. They banged the door and growled like wolves.
My eyes caught the black arm band under their clothes. Royal guards. They were from an alpha. But then, which alpha? My eyes scanned the room for the nearest exit aside the door. I tried to run, but a guard followed me.
“Seize her!” One of the men ordered. I ran to the other side of the room. There was no way I could escape them. One of them grabbed me.
“Let me go! Somebody help!” I kicked and pushed. The man went ahead and wrapped a hand over my mouth. My chest rose and fell as I struggled to breathe. I scanned the room for the door. That was when my eyes landed on Wes.
“Let her go!” He thundered. He wrapped the spreadsheet around his waist and stood.
The guards drew their knives and a gun. I gasped.
The knife was aimed at Wes's chest. If he happened to move, he would be a dead man. My heart threatened to leave my body. I watched from the guard’s clenched jaw to Wes's eyes. Fear crept into my chest. I was scared he could be killed.
The next thing I know, Wes fell limp to the floor.
“Wes!” I wriggled away and ran to his side. “Are you okay?” I shook him gently.
Wes didn't move a muscle. My heart raced. Was he dead? I turned him over and caved. He pushed me away. Hunched on his back, he began to throw up.
“Eww,” one of the guards looked away.
I plugged my nose and looked away. He was drunk.
“I'm sorry, damsel. “ He croaked. “I think my drink had been spiked,” he coughed violently at the crook of his elbow.
I didn't get to complete my next line of thought when a guard yanked me away from the floor.
“Let me go! Stop! Put me down,” I struggled to be free, but it was futile.
Wes tried to sit up, but he slumped back to the floor.
“Let's leave this place,” a guard, who I think was the leader, said.
I was carried out of the Inn as I struggled. “Somebody help!” I cried. Underneath my tear-stained eyes, I noticed something, and I felt an eerie feeling creep up my spine.
In the hallway and out of the bar, I didn't see a single soul. It was like they had parked everyone away.
“Get into the car!” One of the guards ordered.
“No! I”— I was shoved into the car. Someone followed suit. I tried to be free from their grip, but the next thing I saw was darkness.
*************
The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was the badge of guard. I remembered I was being kidn*pped. Still disoriented, huge hands grabbed me.
“Let me go! Put me down!” I kicked and pushed. The men shoved me out of the car, and we began to walk. It was a short walk before we got to a house. Panic rose in my throat. I couldn’t believe it. I had been kidn*pped.
Out of nowhere's I had the idea to pretend to be a runaway daughter of an alpha. I thought that if they believed me, they would let me go.
“You vagabonds! Do you know who my father is? “I yelled. “ He is not just anybody. He is the Alpha. The Alpha of the blood sea Pack.” I twisted myself.
“Let me go or else Heads would roll, my father would make sure of that!” I said in clenched teeth. That did not move them one bit. They got to a room and opened it. The care they took in putting me on the bed made me raise an eyebrow. It meant only one thing. I needed to be alive. They closed the door, and I immediately sprang up like one that had been bitten by an ant.
“Let me out! Somebody help. I banged on the door like a mentally deranged woman, but it was of no use. No one came to the door because when I stopped, all I could hear was radio silence. I kept trying the door, but it wouldn’t budge. Then I turned around, and my breath caught in my throat.
It was the first time I noticed the interior of the room. The room oozed of wealth and royalty. The blankets were as thick wool and the curtains were deep purple. There was a queen-sized bed with flowery beddings. On the table, there was an assortment of makeup and pieces of jewelry.
I walked slowly and blinked. This has been the most gold I have seen in one sitting.
I spun around quickly when the door opened. It was Ginger. My best friend.
Finally, a familiar face.
I ran to her and flung my arms around her. “Ginger!” I buried my face in her hair and wept. “We need to escape,” I cried.
Then I stopped suddenly to notice. Ginger was not hugging me back. The door opened, and two huge men appeared.
“Ginger, what—” I was cut off as I felt a deep searing pain on my head, and I slumped to the floor.
The next time I opened my eyes, I was being held by two guards. There were many people around me. Their voice was deafening. It was like I was on. A podium of sorts. I only realized where I was when I saw Genevieve. I tensed.
I turned to the left, and there was Alpha Michael. Tears began to fall from my eyes. I was utterly helpless and tired.
Alpha Michael smirked, and he turned to the crowd.
“I, Michael Lockwood, cannot have a weak, lowly, smelly, disgusting, and irritating you as my Luna. I reject you…" He paused and withdrew from Genevieve before looking at me. "What's your name again?"
"Ni–Nia," I spoke in between my tears.
"I reject you, Nia, as my fated mate!"
I burst into uncontrollable tears as people cheered. The guards began dragging me away. I stopped abruptly, wondering what was happening.” Wait, where are you taking me?”
Alpha Rowan smirked at me. “You, my dear, are getting sold to the ruthless Lycan.”
