Damon's POV My mother's words echoed in my head long after she stormed out. I wanted to chase after her. To grab her shoulders and shake the truth out of her. She knew something. I could see it in her eyes, in the way her face had gone white at the mention of Elena's name. But she wouldn't tell me anything. Just kept insisting that I send Elena away. That her presence was dangerous. That I was making a terrible mistake. I didn't understand. This was my past. My memories. My life. Why was everyone so determined to keep me in the dark? The Healer appeared at my side, her expression troubled. "Alpha, may I speak with you privately?" I followed her to a quiet corner of the waiting room. "I must share my concerns," she said in a low voice. "This woman's appearance is too coincidental."
